Mayvenn, Inc. Reviews

Mayvenn...where to begin? I take my time and research prior to purchasing. I did the usual: watch YouTube reviews, read blog reviews, Googled any scam sites, etc. Mayvenn was recommended by a website called "HairCritics.com", which markets itself as some sort of exposer of virgin hair companies. I joined the HC site to get discounts on Mayvenn and other recommended hair extension companies. They sent me a deal which was too good to pass up. Buy any 2 products and get a 3rd product of your choice free (no restrictions). I got 2 bundles of 18 in straight Brazilian and ordered a 14 in closure for free. The deal was honored, so that wasn't the issue. It's the quality of what I received that was problematic.

First of all, the packaging leaves a lot to be desired. They push net-wrapped hair bundles into little bags. The hair itself is incredibly thin and chock full of beards near the wefts.

On top of that, it was full of split ends and short hairs. It was 18 inches alright, but not all the way down. I'll say this: it weighed 3.6 oz. The closure...what a disaster! It's also packaged awkwardly, super thin, and full of short hairs. I send back the bundles for a refund, because I didn't think sending me an exchange was going to address the quality issue. However, since I got the closure free, I thought I'd give them another chance.

They have good customer service. That was never my issue (even though one of the reps didn't seem concerned that I was unhappy with the bundles). They resent another closure, and it's literally the same thing all over again! A wigmaker, who sells Mayvenn, that I reached out to, was horrified at what I received. She actually couldn't believe it, as she said she had never seen bundles or a closure that looked like what I got. I really don't know what their story is. I told them to send me a prepaid label to send it back, because I REFUSE to keep spending my money shipping back subpar product. They were very accommodating and indicated they would send me a prepaid label by day's end (we'll see).

The website I purchased through (HairCritics) has no means of contact: emails unanswered, phone number unregistered, no physical location. I get the business model of this company, which is to put resources into the hands of stylists. However, they should have some level of control over their distributors. Also, your product has to be good. I don't know how anyone is buying this hair and calling it a wonder if they got what I got. The refund/exchange policy is great, but why should you constantly have to send something back unless it's not that great? They claim to sell 100% human hair, and yet can't tell you where they get it from on the website. Peruvian, Malaysian and Brazilian...really? Hasn't it been proven that these places don't sell human hair? If that's the case, prove where you're buying from and that it's ALL human hair. It can't be virgin if you have to use some process to place a curl pattern in the hair.

I just find the whole setup bizarre. I got my money back and reps dealt with my issues. My problem is the quality and the advertising regarding the quality. You basically have a system of people profiting from your business only if they can sell, so of course they're going to push it on consumers. I've seen BSS bundles with more thickness and weight for half the cost. At least with them, I know what I'm in for. To market as 100% virgin, and yet have so many quality shortcomings is problematic.
