I had officially started working for Norman F. May on October 19th 2015. My job title was personal assistant. On October 19 I filled out an application and immediately started working that day. He agreed to pay me 600per week and I was supposed to get paid every Friday. That day he said I would start working that day and he would send my application and information over to his office in Vermont where payroll was so that they could get me processed and on the pay schedule. I asked him when would be my first pay date and he said three weeks, I'll get my first check then it'll be every week on Friday. Then he said he'll pay me cash that first week for my services so that I won't be without a check for to long. When that Friday approached I asked if he was going to play me, he said yes. Then when I saw him that day to work he said that Kristen which is the person from payroll said that he could not do that because that's considered under the table pay and there would be no record of it and I could go back and say that he never paid me.
So I was upset but understood and said ok. Then at the end of the workday he went to the bank and have me cash anyway because he said he trusted me. He had only given me 60 dollars. I was very upset and asked why he gave me that amount. He said because I had only worked two days that week and so that's the amount I get. I told him that if I get 600 per week then that's 120 per day so why are you giving me this low amount. He then said well if I work everyday of the week then I'll get my full amount. I told him that was not fair and the only reason why I didn't work a full week was because he said he didn't need me on those days so that was on him.
So then after a month has passed its now November 20 and I told him that I have been working for you for a month and you still have not paid me anything but once and that was only 60 dollars, not even the correct amount. He then laughed and said "you know what I still haven't sent out your application or information to payroll yet", I immediately got upset. I told him I had been working literally for free for a month now, I quit my old job to come work for you and you refuse to pay me for some odd reason. I didn't understand why he never sent my info off so I could get paid and I felt used. He then said ok well I'll give you cash today for last week and this upcoming Friday I'll pay you cash and in two weeks payroll will start paying me. So that day he gave me 80 dollars, which was still not right because I get paid 120 a day and worked 3 days that week, and when Friday came he refused to pay me my full amount in cash. He denied everything we had discussed that day and said that he told me that I had to wait for payroll to pay me. But he still had not sent my information in. So I finally just quit and now I'm upset because he owe me my money for working for that month and a half. He is a fraud. After I quit I tried to call payroll or his office in Vermont and every number I called was disconnect or not valid, and these are the number I got offline. His whole company is a lie and all he does is uses people for his own personal needs or satisfaction without thinking twice about how it affects them. I have a life and bills to pay and he did not care. I hope he learns soon and change his ways before it's too late.
