Matt Madeira Woodwork Reviews

I hired Matt to build two closets; one was built from scratch and the other was to widen and lengthen an existing closet to reset my refrigerator. I had no idea it would take 7 months to complete, however, he was quick to request my $4000 deposit. The work done on the 2nd closet was horrible. I have to take Matt to small claims court since he refuses to return my $5,000. I'm a senior citizen on a fixed income. I had to downsize from a one-bedroom to a studio to accommodate the income loss.

Closet #1. I gave him a sample blueprint drawing. He never provided his own. I settled on the final product even though the work was not completed properly. He had to add a shelf because he measured wrong or used my sample blueprint for height and length. The shelf he added is 6" shorter than the other shelves. I had no words. I let it slide.

The shelf holes were to go all the way up. I told Matt on three occasions to please add holes. As of today, the shelf holes are inadequate. They are not adjustable to my liking, there adjustable to "his" liking.

Matt took it upon himself to rearrange my bottom shelf. He dragged my red toolbox to the other side causing two significant red scratches to my new closet. Why?

Matt had the nerve to post a picture of my apartment with my closet and ask for quotes. Beware: if you do decide to have him build make sure he doesn't include a blueprint charge. I gave Matt the blueprints. You can see my closet on his Facebook page: Matt Madeira Woodwork

Closet #2. What a piece of s**t this closet turned out to be.

1) the inside of the closet, cabinets, and pantry doors were not painted; they were left unfinished.

2) the inside of the closet needed to be sheet rocked. You can see where Matt tore away the existing sheetrock, leaving exposed bricks.

3) the floor needed to be leveled so I could move my refrigerator in & out to get to my back shelves which he had never built. He simply used the old broken shelves.

4) the cabinet and pantry were to be custom-made; 62" deep. Instead, they are standard size. He cheated me out of cherished real estate. I live in a 400sq studio. Matt took it upon himself to put an out-cove in the cabinet space thus robbing me on length. Every precious inch of space is needed, moving the refrigerator into that space would have given me the room I need to fit my custom dining room table. He destroyed my dreams.

5) Matt knew I needed an outlet installed to plug in the refrigerator. For whatever reason, the fridge was shoved into the space. When the electrician came to install an outlet, he could not move the fridge.

That's when it dawned on me why he shoved the refrigerator in knowing I needed an electrician. HE DID NOT WANT ME TO SEE WHAT WAS BEHIND THE REFRIGERATOR. (I didn't ask why he moved the refrigerator, I stupidly thought he wanted to show me how the finished product looked).

I was livid. At this point, I was as fed up with this clown as one could get. I told, screamed, him to come and move this refrigerator so I could see what he was hiding. He refused. I had to dismiss the electrician, I had to pay the electrician for that day, and have him come back to install an outlet.

Matt came back that Monday. When I asked why he did this to me, he remained silent. I watched as he and his father-in-law rocked and shimmied my refrigerator back and forth in horror. My brand-new refrigerator was ruined by three giant deep scratches. He again said nothing, no words of defense, Matt & his father-in-law simply left. I will never forget the loud sound of metal on the metal being torn away from each other. As of today, I have not received the blueprint drawing for this mess he created. According to the contract, one was to be provided.

Paint receipt: Matt is not honest. I had asked Matt, several times, since April for a receipt showing how much it cost for Active paint. I had to wait until I told him I'm suing him to have an invoice emailed to me. Guess what? The contract I signed had one amount, the original email had another amount, and the final email version had a different amount.

It shakes me to my very core to think this proclaimed minister of Jesus, is a pastor of a New Rochelle church. Google.

The pictures I've attached are of THE FINISHED PRODUCT. I now own a s**t hole. If you want to see a video please contact me via yelp and I will gladly send it to you.

PS: Matt's wife is also an accomplice.
