This incident happened 03/28/2017 in my 95 year old mother's nursing home room located at Mennonite Home Communities, Lancaster, PA. A man ,who had no identification, entered the room and wanted to give her a physical. He wanted a list of her meds. This man had no appointment. We found out later that his name is Karl Lang. The nursing staff was unaware of the purpose of this intrusion. He was persistent at getting into the Home's computer seeking more documentation of Mother's medical records. This man was unidentified, unauthorized, confrontational, brazen, and narcissistic. The family states this ordeal was unnecessary and upsetting to both the family and the nursing staff.
A nice lady named Karen shouse came by my house to check my blood pressure and check on my well being. Little did I know that she was coming out to try to gather information for the insurance company to denied claims for me relating to my back. About two weeks to a month after she came I started getting multiple calls from multiple companies about medical equipment and asking questions about my health. I don't know how they're legally able to disclose information about me and my help to third parties but to anyone out there do not let them come to your house they are not a legitimate helpful company like they pretend to be they are out to get money by any means possible!
I was receiving unsolicited calls from this company frequently. When I finally took the call it was a lady who informed me that I was due for Cpap supplies. I told her that I just received some recently. She informed me that these supplies should be replaced once very 3 months. I was surprised because I have used supplies for up to 1 year with proper cleaning as recommended. I told her that I did not want any supplies if I had to pay even a dime for them. The lady informed me that Medicare would pay the cost of thes parts at no cost to me.
I then restated that I would only agree to receive these supplies if there would be no cost to me. I received the supplies a while ago but I have not opened them. I just now received an invoice for $183.00 that Matrix Medical says is due from me. The entire invoice was for $334.82 so Medicare and my supplementary insurance plan payed sum but not all of the total as stated by Matrix. If a company sells something to you without breaking down the cost of the items that they are selling you and simple state that the entire cost will be covered by insurance etc. then I believe this to be consumer fraud.
Further they did not break down the cost of all the items provided by name so I do not know the cost of each item provided. From what I can figure out they charged $134.00 for a Cpap hose that I can purchase from Res shop online right now for the sales price of $40. Their normal price for this item is $51. Res shop show the part number as 36995. This is the same number as is on the packaging of the item I received from Matrix Medical. I want to further note that this hose was made n Singapore as stated on the packaging. Can you imagine the markup they are taking for this 6 foot plastic hose. I want to further note that my invoice says to pay this bill online at www.AeroCareUSA.com ... It is my opinion that this company is using unethical and fraudulent sales practices that pry on the elderly (I am 70 Years old) as well as other younger unsuspecting people who they cold call.
