Mat's Rods and Restorations LLC Reviews
Mat is a very nice guy, and a BS artist. He will blame everyone but himself for lack of delivery, poor quality and delays.
I have a 68 Camaro, actually almost totally done. We had some electrical gremlins, and contacted Mat to completely re-wire the car. No problem he said. $2,800.00 for the job. Seemed fair. They came down to pick it up at my house. They started looking around and saying "Hey, we could do this, and this, and this" (A bunch of small items) I agreed, and away it went. About a week later, Mat emailed and asked if they could run my card for another $2,500 to "order parts" sure. Not a problem. They DID actually work on the paint right away, buffing polishing etc. But that's where it ended.
For 8 weeks, I tried to get a status on what was going on. I was told, parts were ordered, but Covid, Riots, etc, etc (his favorite excuse) I then asked specifically what parts we were waiting for (if it was something that wasn't a big deal, I would have told him to cancel that and do it later) my priority was getting the car re-wired, everything else was extra. Needless to say, the conversation degraded to where I was forced to pick up my car last week. Took it to a trusted shop in Orem. A week later, car is re-wired and on the road.
Mat exhibited a complete lack of professionalism, would NOT communicate with what was going on with my car. All I wanted was a list of what had arrived and what we were waiting for. I'm convinced he never ordered the parts with the money I gave him. As a consumer, I can go online and get virtually any part to my house in 3 days. No excuse for a shop as big as Mat's to have 8 week delays.
It has been a week since I picked up my car. No refund, no detailed bill as he promised. In addition, the shop that fixed it (after mat) noted that:
-Spark plugs were reconnected in the wrong firing order
-Body panels were adjusted to the point where the door won't shut right
-Lights didn't work (they cut the wires but didn't re-wire)
-Lcd control module for EFI was cut and spliced (by Mat) voiding my warranty on that item. Had to order a new on (took 2 days to arrive) :)
-Steering column wasn't bolted on.
I could go on and on. I 100% guarantee that Mat will respond to this review, just like he did on Sean's and blame
1- Me, for adding things (although he suggested them)
2-Covid (one of his favorites)
3- Riots (apparently they targeted all of Mat's suppliers
4- Having been classified a "non-essential" business and therefore had to shut down for two months
I'm not saying that Covid hasn't affected business. But he picked up my car in May, he should have know how this was going to affect his business, and he should have told me and set the expectation "hey, this is going to take MONTHS" (instead of weeks) But he didn't. Took my money and the car.
He will tell you he does 100's of cars a year. He will tell you I wanted to put my car ahead of everyone else's.
He will tell you that he offered for me to come pick up my car and give me a refund (which I ultimately decided to do) yes, should have done it earlier. But I'm trusting... ugh.
The bottom line is, I didn't get a chance to make any decisions, because I didn't have ANY information from him. Even after I picked it up, he still hasn't told me what wiring they completed (very little) we've had to tear into it and undo their shoddy work to find out what the issues are.
I'm a car guy, I'm writing this review for all the other car guys out there. PLEASE FIND SOMEONE ELSE.
Please feel free to hmu "doug olsen 40 at gmail" And I'll be happy to share my experience.
