I put a claim into my homeowners insurance company for damage done to my roof from wind. In surname adjuster came out and asked me if I wanted to contact a roofer of my choice or they could get someone. I felt better letting them choose one figuring they would know what their doing. The construction company was called, they came and gave an estimate for a new roof and fixing the leaks inside my home. Since the insurance adjuster and the contractor disagreed on the estimate. They worked it out. I had to sign a contract with the construction company that day. A couple months later the work was done. Checks were issued from the insurance company to me then I had to send them to my mortgage company to sign also. After everything was done and the final check was sent I told the contractor that I wanted to pay my deductible in two payments. I text and told her ( Michelle) that I was sending both checks in the same envelope. One was dated for June 8, 2016 for $ 250. and the second one was dated July 13, 2016 for the second $250. On June 7, 2016 they cashed both checks which the money wasnt in the bank until the 8th which the check was dated for. I got charged 34.00 twice for insufficient fees. I called the bank and got one of the fees removed but they wouldn't remove the second one. I called the construction company to ask them what they did and why they said sorry about the mistake and wouldn't return my second check plus the fee. So now I'm out 284. I text them today to cut me a check for 284. And I would send them another check next month again but got no response. I am a widow that is on a limited income and can't afford to be 284 short for a month. They cashed. The July check when they weren't supposed to until next month. I am very upset about this and don't know what to do.
