We went to a seminar and were LIED TO. We only purchased the plan because we relied on the salesman's answers about coverage for our grand children. We specifically told him that 2 of our grandchildren were not actually related. We got involved with them through their mothers sister (we went to church with her) We helped her get get on her feet when they were 2 and 3 years old. About 5 years later she married my son and has since divorced him. We have called them ours and think of them that way. He said they would still be covered even though they are not even step grand children.
We received our packet today and it was completely different from the presentation and even more so from the salesman's information. It specifically states they MUST be legal grandchildren. The presentation showed if we bought the lifetime package that night it would give us added benefits including raising the age for coverage of the grandchildren to 26 (our grandchildren are 17, 18 and 22).If we didn't buy that night the coverage only went until they were 14 and wouldn't cover the kids. This was not mentioned and was addressed in our questions before purchasing the plan. My wife spoke to one of their reps on the phone that explained if they were over 14 they would have to be our dependents to be covered. Our natural grand daughter would not be covered if that's the case.
We have insurance that covers ambulance and air ambulance at the same reasonable co-pay (I've actually had to use both the same day after an accident). Due to the fact we were not, just misled, but actually lied to when asked specifically I had no recourse to ask for the cancelation and refund. I was told to send a cancelation request in (2 different email addresses from 2 different reps). I recieved notices they weren't good email address's. The 3rd rep said it couldn't be done via email or phone and I'd be requied to mail my request. I could get nowhere with any of them and they alled played the poor phone connection game when I was persistent and asked to call back or just cut off.
For us, due to our specific needs, they are a total ripoff. In our situation we probably wouldn't need all the bells and whistles that are included. I did find other BBB complaints that suggest other issues, such as pre existing conditions were not correct either.
