This attorney was contracted by my HOA. Unfortunately, a second home I have changed HOA companies, and my auto billpay was getting returned since the HOA company had a new address. They were sending correspondence to an old address they have on file, even though I have a letter where we informed them of our new address. Things happened and they were not getting their HOA fees, as soon as this attorney Buss Ross sent us a letter on January, I realized we were getting the HOA fees returned back on our account, so I went a head an paid this attorneys their invoice $2,021.47 for HOA fee plus $495.00 attorneys fees, plus other miscellaneous fees.
We paid this off, please see check cashed on January 26th, 2018 on attachement. After this, I received a letter that we owed $2,000 more because they added after we paid an Attorney's Fee of $1,950.00. When I called their office, a very rude and unprofessional lady explained the check I sent so they can forward the money to the HOA, they took it and they applied it to their attorne's fees the new charge, and now I owe again money to the HOA.
This is called a Rip Off here, and in Japan, anywhere in the world, if I paid you money for you to forward to the appropriate company, how you add another $1,950.00 ? for what? what else was done? I paid you and the HOA , as soon as I realized they were owed money, even though it was not my mistake that they moved and they were unable to update my address when I mailed them a letter. I do understand I owed the HOA, which were paid, and the attorney's fee of $500.00 to send me a letter, I think they are very well paid with $500.00. How come attorney's fees are not regulated, they are not scrutinized like doctors when they see patients, any attorney can charge anything they want with no limit.
What is interesting there is another complaint here from one person, that describes exactly what I am going throug. They are very familiar, with this way of billing to add expenses after account has been paid. I did filed a BBB complaint, and a Florida Bar Complaint.
