I am a resident of Mariposa Apartments in Denver and have been for a while now. When I first moved in, I really liked the management company becasue they seemed attentive and helpful.
Yet as the company has grown, things have gotten absolutely terrible. I don't know if it is because they are understaffed or if it is something else.
I am writing in my apartment that is now probably about 100 degrees, as the AC has been out for almost two weeks. I have called and called and called, asking for when this will be fixed, and its always, "tomorrow or the next day." I can't sleep at night it is so hot, even with every single window and door open.
But this is typical Mariposa and Ross Management treatment now.
The garage door has been broken for months, leading to break ins of the cars, and a total lack of security in the apartment.
We use key fobs to get into the building, and every other month the keyfob panel breaks, and we have to wait for someone to let us in, hoping they will come somewhat soon. I have been stranded out in the snow for over 30-45 mins becasue the keyfob didn't work...and they wait weeks to fix it.
They recently decided that they will stop recieving packages for the residents here, so many packages are turned back, or simply left in the middle of the lobby, where packages are routinely stolen or played with or damaged.
The worst part is the elevators...and this is the thing that makes me the most mad.
We have two beautiful ladies who live on the 4th floor in wheelchairs. The elevators routinely break, and it used to be a few hours that they were down, and now they are down for DAYS. The longest was almost a week.
These poor women have to have someone carry them up and down the stairs when this happens, or can't leave their apartments at all.
I think it has to be illegal to let people in wheelchairs live on the top levels--what happens if a fire happens or the elevators break down? They have no recourse but to stay in their apartments or hope someone can help them get down.
And the atttitude from the management is always--"we know its broken and we are working on it but we can't give you a time when it will be finished and we thank you for your patience."
Look---there are a LOT of pluses about living here.
This is a great location, and I love my neighbors. The apartments are big and clean, and airy and very nice. I actually really like the maintenence guy Ken, who is totally overhwhelmed, and Jasmine the front desk girl.
But these issues with the repairs is becoming unbearable. This is affecting our quality of life, and in the case of the lovely ladies in the wheelchairs, their ability to live their lives with the dignity and respect they deserve.
I don't know whether these issues are happening because the property managers are understaffed, or if it is just a total sense of apathy, but I hope that this post raises awareness about what is happening here, because this could be a delightful place to live if the building was kept up to snuff.
I would hope that this reaches the owners of Mariposa or Ross management upper management to address this because I would like to stay here, but I am not being heard at all. And neither are the rest of us. We need help!
