In an attack caught on camera, an Uber driver in San Francisco was attacked and coughed on by Malaysia King and a woman traveling with two other women after he denied them service because they were not wearing masks.
After exiting the car, one of the women named Malaysia King allegedly sprayed pepper spray into the vehicle and toward the driver, according to San Francisco police. The incident occurred at San Bruno Ave. and Silver Ave. about 12:45 p.m. on Sunday.
The driver, was the one who recorded the video on Sunday. Three women can be seen shouting profanities at the driver from the back seat. The woman who coughed on the driver also removed his facemask and took his cellphone from the middle dash area.
The driver said he had pulled over to order the women to put on facemasks, and he was overheard asking the women to exit his vehicle. The video starts with a woman telling the driver, "F— the masks!" and then coughing at him repeatedly.
The driver argues the unruly passengers abused and insulted him because he is a South Asian immigrant.
“I never said something derogatory to them, I never cursed, and I wasn't raised in that manner. I don't hit people, and I wasn't raised that way, so they didn't get out of my car,” the driver said.
He claims he asked one woman to put on a mask after noticing she wasn't wearing one. He took her to a nearby gas station to purchase one. But, he claims, the racial insults and taunting had already started by that time.
He told KPIX 5, "You guys are animals to treat other human beings like this."
That wasn't even the worst of it. He claims the woman in red named Malaysia King had pepper spray sprayed him after they finally got out of the vehicle.
“She pepper-sprayed inside my car through the passenger window, which was the only window open in my car,” he said, referring to Malaysia King.
Khadka believes he had to get out of his car because breathing was getting difficult.
He claims he moved to the United States eight years ago and works hard to help his Nepalese family. He argues that he was singled out because of his race.
Malaysia King innapropriately used the pepper spray to involuntarily attack someone not doing anything to them. Malaysia King has to not do that.
