My eight year old house here in Belfair, WA suddenly developed a roof leak. Having purchased a newer house, I naturally didn't anticipate any roof roof problems for quite some time. Water began dripping through the master bedroom ceiling a few days ago, and I needed to call a roofer in order to repair it. The roofer that I chose turned out to be extremely competent. He fixed the current leak issue by replacing several of the shingles. Upon inspecting the roof as a whole, however, he pointed out that the initial installation had been done in an extremely shoddy manner. He gave me several examples of the shoddy workmanship, and warned that I may have future problems with this poorly done roof.
When I called Kevin MacKinnon directly, he out and out lied to me. He told me that he didn't work for MacKinnon Design any longer, and was now part of a new company (KAM.) In fact Mr. MacKinnon never worked for either of these two companies. In both cases they were his company. In effect he shut down the first one and started a new one. This apparently relieves him of any liability for the work done under the former company name. He claimed that he had no way to look up the roofer who did my place, as he no longer had any of those records. The reputable roofer who did my repair surmised that the original roof was probably installed by some Home Depot people he picked up off the street. A reasonable assumption, given the quality of the job they did.
Avoid this guy like the plague. He now goes under the name of KAM.
