Mark was contracted to build a cabin for me on a lake near our home. While he finished the job, his construction techniques and timeline were far from adequate. Upon requesting his last draw he signed a contract with me stating he would come back and fix the problems that I reported or if he couldn't he would reimburse me for those expenses. Mark was presented with an invoice that covered those expenses and he stated it was fair and that I would be reimbursed. Never heard from him again.
Mark said my simple build would take less than a month to complete. He started in May, we reached somewhat complete about August. Mark never put more than 2 days in a row of work on the project the entire time and only began showing up to do work when he was needing the other draws against the project. Like many contractors, he gets your money to use for buying material for some other job he's behind on and then the run-around starts.
My crawl space was supposed to be 36" in the back-I got 24. The ceiling leaked, the gutters leaked and sagged. Screws through the metal roof missed the roof trusses in many places. The Advantek flooring was not glued down voiding the factory warranty and footings for the floor supports were shallow since the only thing he had to dig with in rocky soil was an hand post hole digger.
When building the deck he positioned the deck level so will now allow water to be able to wick to the interior floor.
I have filed a small business claim with the court but the papers could never be served because he is nowhere to be found.
Stay away from this guy. His time management skills are non-existent. He always has an excuse and his attention to detail and foresight failed at every turn.
