I Paid over $3000 to get my car painted and it has drip marks and rips in the paint job.
I took my car to MAACO at 6859 Van Nuys Blvd. in Van Nuys California to get my black Range Rover repainted the same color black...easy you would think...
I picked it up the first time it had drip marks on the driver side plus the hood of the truck was glossy however the sides had other marks around the entire truck... and a rip mark...I was not happy and I wanted it repainted Karina/Maaco made me wait a month to bring it back in order for them to repaint it.
I was not happy so I called corporate office and KARINA stated that I agreed to wait a month which is a LIE I was prepared to leave my truck there that day for them to redo it...a month later I brought the truck back and the same issue...that the hood is glossy but around the truck body is like sandpaper or brush they call it orange peel? but it's ugly so I filed a complaint with my credit card company.
Maaco/Karina (Liar) is saying because I signed the paper that I was satisfied....no I signed the paper because they would not give me back my keys and they were going to call the police if I didn't leave so I was forced to sign. Karina advised me that her manager Lily will contact me?..she never did so when I called Karina she stated her manager call her ...I said I'm the customer I'm the one with the problem I'm reaching out to you you said your manager was going to call me and now your manager won't call me because she wants me to call her how stupid customer service is this.
I am still fighting with my credit card company the Better Business Bureau The Bureau of Automotive Repairs and anyone else who will help me in the situation. Last resort I will have to file a lawsuit
Once Maaco has your money they paint the car any kind of way and they don't care because now they have your money (check all the negative reviews and the rip off report for Maaco) they are a bunch of crooks and liars I would never deal with another MAACO company.
I now have to take my truck to another paint shop to have a done properly for the 3rd time...
It amazes me how Karina/Maaco can lie about me agreeing to wait a month...lie about me stating that I was satisfied and now they have my money and I have a lousy paint job. Crooks...Beware and stay away.
If you Google how much is a paint job at Maaco... it states $300 and up...that's exactly what my Range Rover looks like a $300 job not a $3000 job. Do NOT use Maaco...Unless you just want a cheap paint job because you'll still get a $300 job...
Disgusting Lying Customer Service....Do NOT trust this Maaco...apparently it's a franchise so corporate has their hands and the franchisee owner does not care because they have MY MONEY!…
As I was paying at Maaco, the secretary told me there was a 4% credit card surcharge fee. I said I wasn't aware of that fee. Mark, the estimator, yelled, "I told you to bring cash the last time you were here!" This is a lie. I surely would have remembered a detail like that! I paid the fee because I didn't have $300 cash on me. Afterwards I found out that if a business is going to charge this fee, it has to be clearly posted, which it is not. This is an illegal business practice.
I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy..I would give 0 stars but that was not an option...my car needed a paint job badly so I was in the area and I thought to myself, maaco would be the perfect place! BOY WAS I WRONG!! I would go to any other maaco before I would go to this one ever again in life. I told the owner Jerry I wanted dark blue and he gave me a light blue color on my car.
When I picked up the car I was outraged, so we agreed to change the color to black because nobody can mess up a black paint job..it’s a simple color. So i had to pay (even though it was his mistake) to get the color repainted AGAIN..to black because I did not want to risk him messing up the dark blue again..Jerry was not happy about the fact that I wanted to get my car repainted and called him out on his mistake.
On 7/6/17 iBook my truck to this location and had an estimate for repairs done, on 7/10/17 I paid a parts deposit to have the parts ordered so I wouldn't be without a vehicle while waiting on parts, on 8/7/17 I dropped the truck off to be repaired. Well due to the fact that they obviously can't due a proper estimate and listen they ended up waiting on parts anyway, and on 8/30/17 I was finally called to pick up my truck. Well they had installed the front bumper crooked, it had no headlights, no front grille, the old valance( they charged for a new one),they didnt replace the a/c condenser (also charged for) and it was obviously the wrong color. They did order the parts and put them inside the truck, however the head lights were wrong and They said ins wouldn't cover the stuff to be installed which was a lie. So they reordered the headlights and 5 months later (after me calling constantly) they finally called and said they had the right lights and to bring the truck back and they would fix it.
They have now had it another 3 weeks and I am told it's still not fixed! They are using the excuse that they are waiting on supplements that should have been in the original estimate and come to find out have now been denied because it has been 8 months since the accident and the manager told the ins company that it couldn't have been from the accident even though it was pointed out in the original estimate along with other things that aren't going to get fixed because after 8 months I need my truck back!
After a small accident I went to Maaco for repairs to my suv a bumper, grill and hood after they put it all on they painted it, I'm guessing they didn't cover the rest of the truck. Their was clear coat all over the windows and the entire truck, so I had them to so it again they scratched the Windows and the finish on the paint was like sand. Then they tried to fix it by buffing it down now I'm dealing with swirl marks and the parts they put on and uneven and coming apart
Inept. Worst company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with which has unfortunately been for 6 months now, for what should have been for less then a week. Not only did they not tdo the original job correctly they broke my locks and now I can not lock my car. They still have my car and give me a different excuse weekly. It has cost me money and more importantly so much time and aggregations. I am at my wits end and I now have to get an attorney involved.
I am so done with trying to deal with Maaco, in Lowell. Mike, is the most rude disrespectful person I have had the misfortune of dealing with, I even notified Corporate office explained what I had gone through, they said they would check into it WELL they sure did they called (Mike) at Maaco the one I was complaint about, so Anna (also from Maaco) called me and said "bring it in we will fix the problem at N/C - if you had a complaint you should have just called me not the office". The Corporate office called me for a follow up, I started all over again explaining what I paid for it should be done correct the first time, I told Mike and Anna as well, Mike said to me" we don't sand down the whole car only spot sand, we don't prime before we paint - if you wanted the rust spot in front taken care of you should have told me" I explained all this to Corp.
I thought painting a car meant the entire car, but not according to them. Corporate office started defending them, enplaning "their a franchise and do things there own why" . I said " the paint is pealing after two months and the front of the van wasn't painted or even touched at all" Cooperate office kept defending them, I said you are not listening to anything I have to say you allow them to do a rotten/shorty job in Maaco name. Shame on you and I hung up!
This is my story, I am on disability and there is no way I could afford another vehicle so I took my 2006 van for an extremist at Maaco what a SUCKER I WAS !
Mike said there was a promotional paint sale that ended that day, so if I wanted the special I had to leave the van that day or miss the sale.... Mike said "if you leave the van here now you can get it back late tomorrow afternoon its slow, I have three guys that can get started right away" I thought great why not...Hell they even gave me a ride home nice people (ya think?) Well 9 days and 3 thousand dollars later I get to finally get my van back.....Not only have I been lied to by Mike he looks me in the face and accused me of lying, Checking the van over one of the side doors keep sticking (I said I think it maybe off track) my sister and I stood there for a good 8-10 min. arguing with Mike - he keep telling me I didn't know what I was talking about, they never touched the door they didn't do anything with the side doors ( but I know they did take the doors off) he said, only the front doors (they supposedly replace the rocker arm-on both side doors) after about 8min or so. I had enough and made him list it on the receipt that if the door got worse I was to take it back to Maaco. I start to drive out and realize my muffler was dragging, I back up, parked and went in, before I said anything he said "we never touched the muffler- we didn't do anything to it" (yup, my muffler was torn off- was not like that when I left it) Okay moving right along just under two month, I am filling my gas tank and look at the back of the van and guess what the paint is chipping of just over two months old. So I bring it back. Okay they will fix it at N/C (like I was about to give them more money) I checked it out all over and the front of the van (on the same side) just under the headlight was not only NOT painted it was all rusted, they actually said "the paint wont stick to rust , and you didn't tell us you wanted that done..." Who are the professionals here?? I asked them when I paid for a paint job I thought it was from one end to the other" he said yes but we don't do the bumpers...... I couldn't believe them, what I was talking about was NO WERE NEAR the bumper....either he is stupid or thinks everyone else is.... What the heck did I pay for...I am so disappointed... Okay, I am back now for the second time, I check it out, looks okay. Good right WRONG!! I get home and walked around the van looked back as I was going into the house and low and be hold there is a large chip taken out of the rim of the door looks like it was slammed into something when it was opened. Now I an between a rock and a hard place... I dont want to deal with them and I am sad to say there is still rust n the front doors so I dont know what I paid for because I most certainly have not secured my vehicle or my finances for the future.
I don’t know where to start. I am not a writer so bear with me. Paint on the windows, carpet, inside the doors, tires (driver front and rear), wheel wells, brake caliper (driver front) and for the life of me I can’t figure out how the door sill trim got cracked it must have been hit with something. This is a 1996 BMW Z3 painted at 1650 Silas Creek Pkwy in Winston Salem, NC. 336 939 6474 The project was wrote up by Alex Mabe. The job was to install an after-market bumper cover, address the driver side door for a dent and paint the car. I delivered the car on 1/15/2016. After 2 weeks or so (02/02/2016) I decided to call to see what was going on since I hadn’t heard a word. I talked to Alex and enquired on the progress of the vehicle. Alex
said that he had called me 2 or 3 times to let me know the vehicle was ready. I never received a call from Alex. I asked him if he had left a message; Alex stated that with the type of phone that he had he was incapable of leaving a voice message………. WHAT the hell is that? At that point I knew something was wrong. Alex said that the car had been ready for a few days. I asked him about the bumper cover and he said that it was ready for pick up. I told him fine I would be there shortly. I live about 20 minutes away. I arrive at MAACO and see the car. The bumper cover was hanging off of the front of the car and had been PAINTED! I head inside to talk to Alex and the owner informed me that he had sent Alex home sick
and that he would take care of the matter. So I informed the owner that I had just talked to Alex 20 minutes ago and he told me the car was ready for pickup. The owner explained to me how they tried everything to get the bumper cover on and that they could not do it. So why did you paint it? He blew up told me my vehicle was a piece of a crap only because he couldn’t install the bumper cover. I did not deserve this. I did nothing wrong. When it came to the point that there was nothing else that could be done all work should have ceased and I should have been contacted IMMEDIATELEY it never happened. Now I have to find someone else to install the bumper cover hope and pray it can be done without a respray, clean the carpets, fix
the cracked sill trim and clean the paint off my tires, windows and brake caliper. This was by far the most unprofessional service I have ever had. I have had vehicles painted by MAACO before and never experienced such rude and disrespectful individuals in my life. I’m 59 years old. If you guys condone this type of behavior it is really sad. I did nothing to deserve this. If you guys don’t want people of color in your establishment just put up a sign. This is the only reason I can come up with for this treatment. I did not deserve this…… I will be sending a copy of this letter to the Better Business Bureau….
Good evening. My name is Lawrence Guidry and my wife name is Brandy Guidry. On 05/02/2016 I took our red 2014 Mazda 6 to Maaco located on 510 South Mason Rd Suite S-1 Katy, Tx77450their number is 832-410-4083. My wife and I was requesting that the Front bumper, the front driver side hood, The right quarter passenger panel and the back bumper be replaced and painted. Our car took a long time to be completed, 30 days to be exact which was June 2, 2016. Where we had to take our rental car back and operate with 1 vehicle with having 6 kids to travel around because the insurance company only pays for up to 30 days. When we arrived on June 2,2016 @ 5:23pm we noticed that the front bumper was a burgundy color, the car in the middle was its original color which is red , the right quarter panel was painted correctly but not completely put back together and the back bumper was painted a lighter burgundy which was different from the front. We expressed our concerns to the owner Monica Brown that our car was not painted properly and is now 3 different colors. Monica stated that they would correct the issue with the paint now leaving us with waiting again. We got a call on June 7, 2016 saying the car was complete. We arrived at 5:30 and realized yet again the issue was done properly. The front bumper is now done correctly but the back bumper is still dis colored and do not match the rest of my car. I pointed this out to Monica Brown and she said that this was the closest she could get. I called the Mazda dealership and spoke to Carlos and asked if the paint should be different, he stated absolutely not since the car is a 2014 model the color should match to the rest of my car. I again explained this to Monica and stated to her again that the paint was unacceptable and not done properly. She said that it was all that she could do. Not offering a discount off the paint, not offering to repaint nor coming up with any resolution. She simply said if you do not take your car today June 7, 2016 that we will then charge you for a 4 stage paint. I stated to Monica that you can not charge me anything outside of what my receipt says I am being charged for. I then called the Police and they stated that they can also tell the car back bumper is a different color from the rest of the car and that I should file a small claims suit. I fill that this business is simply saying pay for it whether the paint is done correctly or not. I do not feel we should pay for the paint to the back bumper or they should at least offer to repaint the back bumper that was painted incorrectly. Please Help in any way possible. I have 6 kids and can't afford to be without a car any longer. Thank you for any help you can offer. Situation: After a fender bender the last week of December 2015 I had my 97 BMW Z3 towed to Maaco/Meineke in Summerville. The estimate fluctuated, and a contract for service was not forthcoming, but I approved body work & mechanical repairs after i was assured the garage could manage my BMW's repairs and the cost would not exceed a certain amount. (Bubba business) I put half down as required by their store policy ($3100). After 6 weeks the repairs were finished & the automobile was ready for pickup. ($3600) It looked good at 1st glance. We drove 1 block from the store toward our house and i noticed the air vacuum vent for the ac was disabled (knob rotated freely), and the power steering was not functional. I returned immediately and J*** M******** (owner) assured me it would be repaired. I had not heard from the shop for 2 days. When i called i was refered to P*** (Meineke floor manager) whom said he was too busy to get to my car. I told him i would ask my tow guy if he was available to pick up the car. P*** was rude, angry and inappropriate ( recorded call). When i called back to say my tow guy would be there in 15 min P*** was conciliatory and said he had the car on the lift and the repair would be done within the hr. I picked up the car and drove it home ( 6 city blocks) The next day i drove the vehicle 5 miles and completely broke down. I called J*** M******** (owner) and he said he was sorry to hear i broke down and to bring the car back. I did not trust them at this point. I had it towed ($100) to my regular mechanic at E********** Beamers in Mt. Pleasant. They made $800 worth of repairs to the coolant system. D****, stated the coolant system was bone dry which caused a hose to split. He said there was no evidence tht any water or coolnt had ever been in the system. He said they would pressure test it after repairs to see if there was engine damage. They thought it passed but could not promise that the engine was okay.. On the way home the car started smoking and broke down. The coolant system basically exploded because the engine was burned out. I had the car towed back to E*********** Beamers ($100) Now i am facing $4,500 in repairs to replace the engine and new cooling components. I wish to be made whole by J*** M******** & Meineke for $4500 (engine & repairs) $800 (coolant system repairs & air vaccuum) $300 (tow fees) & $3500 (meineke suppisedly spent one repairs alone) = $ 9,000 Mr. M******** will not honor the expense because he feels all repairs should have been entrusted to his shop even though he discovered malfeasance in his bay and destroyed 3 opportunities to build trust. (recorded phone call) I have optedbnot to sue in small claims court because the owner J*** M******** is a retired Finance Attorney from Chicago and a pro at dodging this kind of lawsuit. Thank you for your time.
I went to macco to get my door fixed. I had a check for an insurnace claim. The check was 4,302 the total adjustments was 2,202. They were supposed to do the amount of work that totals up to the adjustments. The customer service i was is very poorly. I did most of the calling for my truck they never called me to give me updates on how long it will be before it gets done. 2Days before christmas i went by there they said they was gonna be closed on Thursday and Friday because of the Holiday. I asked will my truck be ready she said it should. So i called that Tuesday i was told my truck would be ready Wednesday. I called and got off work early i got no answer now they closed at 5pm i got there by 330pm. They were gone and that was the day before christmas eve. Now i was stuck with no money and i didn't buy my son nothing for Christmas. I was never told that they was closing early the day before christmas eve. So over the weekend i drove by there shop my truck is parked in there lot done. That following Monday i went to pick up my truck and i had to wait an additional week for my refund because the owner and his Secretary was on vacation. When i finally got there im assuming i was getting back at least close to 1,000 they gave me 475.00 saying he saved me some money. Now i didnt get no paperwork back on how this was broken down no receipts no nothing. Thats not how you run a business regardless of how long u run a business.
On May 6, 2015, I took my van to Maaco for repair of rust holes on the roof and spot painting of the hood and roof. I discussed the repair work with Mr. Sevren Grossman, Manager, and emphasized that the rust holes "must go away." I acutally suggested that he revise his original quote higher because I wanted top of the line work and paint. He did so, raising his quote to $852.14. We discussed the warranty and he assured me that there was a full year warranty. This is clearly reflected on the quote. I picked up my van on May 14, 2015, paying $852.14 at that time.
Less than two weeks later I noted paint peeling and leaks in the roof. I returned the van to Maaco on May 22, 2015 for warranty repair. They did repairs and I picked up my vehicle one week later at no cost. In early September 2015, less than four months later, I noted leaks. Upon inspecting the van's roof, I found the holes has reopened and there were areas of peeling paint.
I returned to Maaco on May 14, 2015 for additional warranty work. At that time I was informed by Ms. Christina Gonzales that there was no warranty. However, they would take the van in and evaluate what could be done. They kept the vehicle for several days, then told me that even though my original quote indicated a full years guarentee, no warranty would be allowed.
Ms. Gonzales said they could repeat the repairs for $516.03 (giving me a formal quote) but there would be no warranty and I could expect failure again in six months to a year. I could bring the van back as often as I pleased for repair at $500 each time. I took my van home. After consulting with some "real" body repair men, I purchased fiberglass bondo, sanded out the damaged areas, and did the repairs myself. We'll see how long that lasts.
My Maaco receipt shows $300 charged for Body Labor plus $100 charged for Surface Recon. I feel this $400 reflects the work on the rust holes as stated in the quote. Since all the repairs failed and the warranty was refused, I feel this $400 should be refunded. I am seriously considering filing legal action in small claims court.
I am also telling everyone I know not to use Maaco.
I took my car to Maaco with intentions of having a great paint job. I was given a price around $800 with the word of mouth of my car being ready in about 3 days. I had to pay out of pocket for over a week for a rental due to my car not being ready. I was given my car and was told to bring it back and it would take one day to finish it up. When I took the car back, they kept it for a week and every day that I called, they gave me the run around and wouldn't answer the phone most of the time. Every day that they said it would be ready, one day turned to the next. When I finally got my car back a week later, paint was on my seat, paint had ran down the back of the car, metal flakes were everywhere besides the trunk. Keep in mind, from the first time, my dent had not been removed from the first time and they broke my emblem on my car and didn't replace it.
Very cheap work. They owe me more than money and time.
My car was not in bad shape but the clear coat was peeling out.
Hashim (I imagine a supervisor who doesn't know the meaning of supervision or quality work) gave an initial price for my car's job. He called me one week after dropped my car explaining they need to sand all the car and they have to charge more money from the original price. Other than that, he will not be able to give me a warranty on the job.
Because I was looking a better look for my car, I agreed.
When I took my car to the shop it came with two original stripes painted, which I requested to be painted as well. Hashim want to install some lame paper ones instead of painting them. He argued that it was not part of the initial agreement and because it was not signed in the contract, he will not do it.
He needs to mask the car again and that will cost more money, said.
Short story; when I came to get my car, it was not painted the way I wanted, parts were not installed, all my interior's car was with dust of the sanding, and when I told him about this he came angry and move the car again to the back part of the shop telling me "come to get your car in one month" and by the way, he want to charge storage fees because according to him, the job was done. Yeah, with a quality far away from the lowest standard.
This is the kind of attitude you will find on this shop. Low quality and not customer oriented service.
Then, he came with the next bright idea of his mind, all this because I have the right of asking for a quality job and he doesn't know how to do it: I will not accept credit cards, only cash.
I came with the cash because I want my car out of that cheap shop. This is not the kind of people you want to deal with. He has a lot of experience (more than 25 years according to his words) I'm sure doing this kind of practices where you -as a customer- have no more options than taking what is done because will be more expensive suing. And I am sure he has also experience with the law. Hope some day the law do something on this guy. By the way, I called Corporate and they said the same, it is not in the paper, we can do nothing. I feel this is the most easy way of doing a fraud. I had no alternative, just keep my car and live with the consequences of trying to improve the look of my car.
I will regret every day when I see my car. It has all his gaskets with paint (the masking was very defective,) a lot of bubbles on the paint and waves from a really bad sanding.
Anyway, good luck and if you can, go away of this "Maaco Auto Painting" shop. Students in schools can do a better job and myself can do it better with the Rust-Oleum Spray Paint.

THIS COMPANY RIPPED US OFF ON THE PAINT JOBS THEY DID ON OUR VEHICLES. TERRIBLE WORK AND VERY DISRESPECTFUL
