As as an Ex-30 year customer of this service, it was shocking how behind the times they are in regards to emails, computers, electronic communications etc, plus they are real bold in regard to your tax filings where deductions are taken and always bragged about the free Tax Audit representation included in the fee for tax prep.
Well let me say this, after the very first Audit of my entire life with a return these folks did, it wasn't free, it required a tax attorney at my expense because of a critical deadline that was blown, most balls were dropped, it wasn't professional, wasn't organized, wasn't scheduled on critical date deadlines and it was always a emergency call received from the old guy Maaavin with no time left on the clock who expected us to drop what ever we were doing and race down to his office for something that was forgotten under a stack of junk somewhere. If you doubt this--call Bonny and get a good email from her as a test and see how that works out with 6 test emails with acceptable response times--I doubt it has changed from a miserable failure and if you bring up anything unpleasant to Maaavin, you will get his standard response of you have a bad attitude and he doesn't give a S**t about your concern or complaints---go ahead and try it.
The old saying really is true, you really don't know a company when things are going good, Its when things go wrong, that you really find out what a company is made of. This guy Marvin and crew that i considered good friends failed us miserably---very very sloppy followup and follow thru, Also we assumed that as long as these guys have been in business, they'd have handled tons of Audits---Ours appeared to have been the very first one by all the stumbles and falters and sloppiness, if it wasn't the first, lord help the rest.
Just a few examples of these folks stuck in the 80's who find computers a bother for scheduling critical dates etc. Also email correspondence was non existent, important documents mailed to other customers who in turn had to re-mail it to us out of their kindness. Correspondence to the IRS had some other clients name on it other than ours--mixed us up with another person basically, Gave us personal phone numbers to call after hours in case of a question or concern-then got pissy because we did just that a couple times, We gave them power of attorney to act on our behalf in case we were busy or out of town at a critical juncture--it was lost and he said we never filled one out then he expected another firetruck drop what you are doing and rush to his office to complete another one, then low and behold--they found it under some stack of crap somewhere we assume. Then when it came time to use said power of attorney--they were to coward to sign their names to the correspondence going back to the IRS--which resulted in another several firetruck runs to the office to sign forms again, Basically the power of attorney was a total waste of our time and trouble.
It was so painful to see a company that has been in this business for 40 years plus stumble and falter on something they should have been able to handle with their eyes shut and hands tied behind their backs--IMO
