Was saddened to read Dorene's experience. I gave Suncerae a ride from Scappoose to the Guest House Inn in Wilsonville last night. You may want to contact the police. See below--
Just wanted to warn people to not get taken in by this company's hustle by working for them or buying their product in the hope that you're supporting opportunities for young people.
When getting petrol at a gas station in a small town in Oregon last evening, a pleasant looking & polite young woman asked to borrow my cell phone which I loaned her. She stood near me so I overheard her distressed conversation. She communicated that she had been waiting at this station for over 3 hours after walking all door trying to sell products & needed to return to Wilsonville, & when were her employers going to pick her up?
As I reside not too far from that town I offered her a ride. Turns out she was recruited by Worldwide Products, Inc. to sell their soap door-to-door. They had dropped off a crew with no firm meet up plans & left her stranded. She was there from Kansas City! When she called them from my phone they verbally abused her; then hung up on her. They had given her an identification to show she was with this firm, but did not have a legitimate peddler's license.
She shared with me that this company pays a month's rent for their new recruits & cover their expenses, when the month ends, they're back to paying expenses & the company is extorting major fees from them leaving them no choice but to do what they're told & to peddle this overpriced product in this antiquated fashion. This woman had no money with her, & was left in a strange town. I picked her up after 9:30 at night! She was extremely concerned that once she got to her hotel they would drop her off at the Greyhound station in Portland-- which would already be closed.
This was a nice young woman, but completely uneducated & fiscally vulnerable. At 28 years of age she has 4 children to look after-- her oldest being 14.
This company is criminally negligent. They left this individual in a town an hour's distance from where she was staying, endangering her health & safety. From what she told me, it sounds like they're targeting young African-American people (the owners are African-American) with the allure of working & achieving success within the auspices of their community. Sounds to me like they're enslaving people!
Plan on contacting the Oregon & California Labor Boards.
