Luxury Pools of MI Reviews
Signed contract with Greg Inbrahim in early August 2015 and was told I would be swimming in 4-6 weeks. He waited 2 weeks toapply for the permit so this is the begining of the problems and delays.
It was late October when they started to dig and I was told the pool would be in and filled with water that day. They seemed to have trouble getting it in place and leveled. The water truck arrived and was sent away because they were not done. Said he would be back the next morning but never showed up. Said it was raining, but we only had a light sprinkle. Finally came back and appeared to get it in place and started filling with my water. I was told I would get a $400 credit for the water. He started back filling with only a little water in the pool and the sides started buckling in so he stopped. Said to fill the pool and he would be back to fix it.
Weeks later he ended up bringing in an out of state pool contractor to fix the issue. They set up a temporary water storage pool type device and drained the water. They removed some of the back fill and built some wooden frames to keek the sides from bowing in and the refilled and partially backfilled the pool.
A contractor then arrived to put in the underground gas line which was done fairly quickly. However the contractor got into some dispute with the neighbor and the next thing you know, there are 4 police cars at my home. Just what I needed is problems with the neighbors at my brand new house.
I asked Greg to get the gas line inspected and the trench filled in so it was not a danger to my family and pets over the winter. Repeated calls were either unanswered or I was told it would be done. It did not get done until the following spring.
Greg was to have the backfill move of the property line so the Fence contractor could get the fence in before winter, but that didnt happen in time, so I had to put up a temporary fence for the winter to keep my dogs from running off. I also had to secure the temporary safety fence around the pool as he just left it down. I also had to disassemble it and dispose of it as well in the spring.
I was assured by Greg that I would be the first job started and finished in the spring. So I was happy for the early spring and epecting to be swimming by Memorial Day. No such luck. Constant delys and excuses. He uses contractors for everything and I heard the same story from all of them that Greg doesn't know what he is doing.
At some point he came and took one of my installed lights, I assume for another job, and it took months to get a replacement. Unfortunately, he had the wrong light installed, so the 2 lights do not sync. This is still not resolved.
Finally it was time for concrete. But after numerous excuses, I went down the their office and found my job was not scheduled to be done. Turns out Greg was trying to find someone cheaper to do the concrete. After some argument and threats, the cement contractor arrived and we had hope of work being done soon. The forms were in place. Then all of the suddon, I come home to find the pool forms removed, apparently so he could do another job. So another delay.
Finally cement arrived and I was asked for payment.I said I would pay when done since he had lost all trust. Once the cement was poured I only paid him a portion since he had failed to deliver the power cover. I think that pushed him to get them out to install that. Unfortunately the cover company did not show up as scheduled and Greg played dumb saying he has them scheduled that day. They showed up the next week and I asked them why the didnt show up, and was told they were not scheduled and I know they couldn'thave since I saw the receipt and It was not ordered until the day they were to be out.
Back to the stamped concrete. After it was installed and stamped, I noticed, the next day that the stamping was crooked. I also seen that the cuts were not hidden in the stamp lines as I was told. Greg did come out and said it would be taken care of but it never has.
Greg and the contractors did not clean up after themselves. I had to clean and dismatle forms and the temporary winter cover he left which he repeatedly said he would take care of. Since he never picked it up, I ended up putting it in the trash. He later tells me he is going to charge me for that since I had no right to throw out his stuff.
He did not have excess backfill material removed from the site, insted he just buried it. So when I try to plant a tree,it is almost impossible to dig thru the stone. He also did not clean up the vacent lot which he was supposed to do.
Finally had final approval from the township onthe job on August 8 2016 a year after we signed the contract. I have not paid the final balance since the light issue has not been resolved. I met with the concrete contractor last night and found he was not aware of the issue until recently, even though Greg told me he was.Greg also told me in order to fix the concret, they would have to remove it all since they couldnt match the color. The cement contractor told me this is not true. I also found the the cement contractor has not been paid yet.
I was never trained on the use of the equipment and he did not winterize the pool this year as he was supposed to, so I had to pay someone to do that.
This has been the worst experience with a contractor ever and I would highly reccomend anyony looking to get a pool installed, to look elseware.
Timeline from start to finish that was quoted by Greg Ibrahim was wildly inaccurate. 4 to 6 weeks is given. We signed in early April of 2016 and didnt see or hear from Greg till mid June when he wanted to collect $$ and start the dig. That was the last time we saw him. Never once came to check on work or his crappy sub contractors. They worked for 2 days and we didnt see them again until August 2016(his contractors, NOT Greg) As the build progressed at the SLOWEST PACE ever, we questioned the sub contractors on many issue and were told they were not to be worried about. His Pool Sub company is Brian's Pool Maintence....shotty work, and terrible attitude. We didnt get water in the pool until mid September and litterally 2 mins after we started to fill the pool the $1000 water I paid for was dark brown due the fact that Brian never covered the drains.
He told us to run the pool for a week at full speed to clean up his mess. We never got any real instuction on how to even use the pool. Had to hire another company to come teach us. When they arrived they could barely figure out the mess of plumbing Brian/Greg left us with. Took hours and hours to heat the hottub to even 94deg and could never get it any hotter nor would it stay hot. It is now October and we are left with...Vermiculite on the concrete deck which by the way is NOT up to code...all the water pitches to my house which is a big NO, NO. The concrete guy also made a set of stairs that are NOT up to code, the vermiculite bottom looks and FEELS like moon crators and because the concrete guy Greg hired had never poured a pool deck before he left concrete in the liner channels that had to be chisseled out for almost 13 hrs. In the midst of all that the concrete guy and Brian had a huge fight on my property about who's fault is was and who was to clean/fix it. The channel was cleared only to be left on the bottom of the pool and the liner went in on top of all the DEBIS. It pokes thru the liner to the point where it hurts to barely step there. Brian told me to get a bowling ball and roll it away. WHAT A JOKE! Brian left trash and eq at the house for weeks...told us to tell the landscaper to work around his mess. Brian also tried to cram the deck jet valves into the existing plumbing in the dark while his 2 cronies were prying the existing plumbing w/a shovel in order to squezze in the valves. After having multiple pool companies and multiple decking companies as well as the City inspector showed the job is basically a complete redo.
Now I may be bouncing around a bit but let me list the issue we are left with. Bad vermiculite bottom, concrete under the liner, vermiculite splattered all over the decking, the foam sides were badly wrinkled causing lumps in the linder, the deck jets look like someone cleaned them w/a sledge hammer, the color of the deck is god awful and not matching anywhere, hair line cracks 1 day after install, stampped pattern was done completely incorrect, poor stamp lines, dont match from section to section, foot prints in the decking, the pool edge is a poop brown w/tons of cracks and issues due to fact they left the forms on too long, the pitch of the concrete flows all the water to the house and EVEN some to the pool. The sidewalk, is 6 in lower than where is should be, no drain was installed at all, half the plumbing including the valves are buried under ground w/zero access, TOO MANY valves to effiecently work the pool, filter is too small, hot tub doesnt heat, crooked seam joints in the concrete, crooked ugly plumbing, the spillover spa is 3 inches away from the pool so the salt water is corroding the concrete face and half the water spills on the deck that has no drain. Major safety issue. We have pics and documentation for all this. Many of these issues came to light after the poor install was done as we know nothing about pool installation...U bet we know alot now about it. Easily $30-45k of repairs are need to make this job right.Just the concrete redo is apprx $20-25k to repair.
Greg Ibrahim was constantly at odds with his contractors - pool installer, electrictian, and cement company which we heard first hand from all the sub contractors constanly complaining about Greg and the work enviroment, though at that time was too late for us as Greg had our money. The Sub's were very unprofessional and lacked the know how to do the job right the first tim. Every job he had was a mess in some way of another. God help you if you need to call Greg with a problem. voicemail box was always full and never called back in a timely fashion or actually never called back at all. We often received texts that read like this, 'Can I call you in a couple days?' A serious red flag. As far as we know, Luxury Pools is a 'one-man shop' where all work is contracted out to less than qualified contractors - as stated in the review above, the new company is only a few months old. I think that people should be aware of this when choosing a pool company. For such a large investment, you want honesty, reliability, and a reputable pool company that has been around for a while. STAY AWAY FROM LUXURY POOLS OF MICHIGAN. We will be filing reports w/BBB, Fox2 Problem solvers and the State Licensing Board for Contractors. We are not going away anytime soon and will fight this with every resource we have and can gather. Im trying to remember all this issues as I type this, feel Im forgetting a few and the whole experience was and is a complete NIGHTMARE!
