Scamming Evolved.

I am a 22-year old that is currently finishing up with my degree. I found a job posting on LinkedIn for a "Communications Assistant" in Houston, Texas, and sent in my resume on a Saturday night without much thought. I don't even think I read the job description thoroughly either. The following Sunday afternoon, they immediately messaged me for an in person interview the next day and I agreed.

A couple of things that I found suspicious and made me follow my gut instinct of not coming in for the interview.

1. Reaching out through text on a weekend. Usually, professional companies reach out 9am-5pm on business days. I don't think recruiters like to work on the weekends and especially reach out on Father's Day. The response rate was incredibly fast for a company that has an office in New York and Houston.

2. Generic website. Trying to research the website before my interview, it felt so vague and generic. I couldn't grasp any sort of substance that shows who they are as a company. The design and layout also look like it was just thrown together. Anyone with a small design experience could have thrown that together.

3. Inconsistent email signatures. Bailey is the person who reached out to me through text and email. They have a text signature that was inconsistent and one of them even had a typo leading to a non-working website. It said "lunapartnes.co" instead of the first email/text signature that says "lunapartners.co". A simple mistake that a solid official company would not make.

4. LinkedIn suspicions. Even on their page, only 4 people say they work there. That is very alarming to me, especially since I can't find Bailey McGill on LinkedIn. What kind of company doesn't have their recruiters on LinkedIn? What kind of company only has 4 employees claiming to work there? Their page isn't very active either.

5. Asking for an in-person interview during a time of COVID-19. I'm not an HR expert, but in a time like this, Zoom or Skype is a better option than an in-person interview. I already felt like this was a red flag that shows the company does not care about the safety of their employees. This just didn't sit right with me at all.

I texted them 2 hours before my interview saying that I was no longer interested in the position and would not be coming in anymore. A couple of hours later on LinkedIn, I noticed they REPOSTED the same positions online. Another suspicious activity. What does reposting a new job opening again do for you as a company? Was it because your original post has been reported?

Please don't send in your resume. It's not worth sharing your email and phone number too. Don't waste your time. The review above mine uses the same names Brittany and Bailey McGill that I have been in contact with. Avoid them at all costs!

Scammerz

Thank you very much. I'm supposed to have an interview with them in the morning. I'm so glad you took the time to post about this. It was the same name also Bailey McGill

Scam Alert

I am a fresh graduate looking for jobs. On 26th morning, I was going through some of the easy-apply postings on LinkedIn and within three hours received an SMS (first red flag) from Bailey McGill that my application was accepted. I didn't even remember what it was, but I went back and checked my emails, found the application, and went to their website only to find it very vague. A Google search didn't help either; there was literally nothing else named Luna Partners. As the previous post stated, everything followed literally the exact same steps. I asked Bailey to set up a Zoom call, not realizing at the time how odd it was that they had even asked to meet in person in the first place.

I'm so disappointed but also extremely grateful for trusting my gut enough to sense something is amiss. Will definitely not be attending the interview tomorrow. Also, there's a bunch of posts of Reddit, especially r/nycjobs which mentions the 690 8th Ave NY address A LOT. The companies keep rebranding and it's always the same scam.

Not to mention, I went on Google Maps to look at the alleged location of Luna Partners. After digging for a long time I found the address 5821 Southwest Fwy, Houston, TX 77057 (which, BTW, was neither mentioned on LinkedIn, nor did Bailey think it important to include in her SMS) and a 360-degree view showed literally no sign of there being a company thusly named there. It simply had a smallish board in front of a tall building saying "On Demand. Copier Sales and Service."

Full of RED FLAGS, please avoid!

This place now under the name "Luna Partners" has been scamming young fresh college grads, and desperate people just looking to make an honest living for years. This s**+**y office space located on the 3rd floor of 690 8th ave, between a souvenir shop and a McDonalds has been professionaly exploting peoples time, energy, and skill for years with no remorse.

This dingy establishment emailed me claiming that they received my resume and thought I was a good fit for the postion. Me being wide eyed, and ready for a new job was delighted when I recieved the email, up until I noticed

1. I hadnt applied for any jobs regarding "luna partners"

2. I had not known what postion this so called company had in mind for me. With some blind faith I decieded to select a time slot and decided to go in for an "interview".

Upon arriving to 690 8th ave, I noticed that there was no buisness establshed as "luna partners" rather I was instruced in my confirmation email to ring the 3rd floor which was under the name "talent acquisitions and human resources", I buzzed and was let into the building and I took the poorly lit, rather small elevator to the third floor, where I was greated with a singular entrace way, brighly painted with nickalodeon-like orange paint on the walls, and incredibly distasteful pop-music.

I immediately noticed the 20 other people there for this "interview". I checked in at the front desk and was instructed to fill out a brief form basically giving them my availability which was broken up into part-time and full-time, and then I was asked which position I was applying for which was odd since they should know which position I’m applying for, and i had no idea why i was there in the first place, all i knew was that they allegedly came across my resume.

I sat for a few minutes until my name was called out and i was greeted by a somewhat airhead of a white woman who had veneers for teeth and was really “out of it” Her name was either bailey or brittnay, i cant remember but since these businesses are known for changing their names, their employees most likely do as well.

after talking to her for a very brief moment, i noticed how much she was talking, and how little information i was receiving. i stopped her in the middle of her ramblings and asked her if her company was a MLM (multi-level marketing scheme) in which she responded and said “you know i get asked that a lot and i can see why you would think that way” from then on i was very apprehensive, yet still open minded as i was desperate for a job. we finished my “interview” and was given a very weak handshake and i went home.

About 5-10 min after i left i received a call and was told i made it to the “second interview”. Great. I was told to go in Monday morning at 10:30 am, and to expect to stay until 1:30, weird considering how fast their “interviews” are. I was also told to dress professional, and to bring a note pad and a pen.

I went in again, and was called in to the “interview” this time i was accompanied by another candidate, and was basically explained to how their “company works”. basically you work Monday-Saturday 9am-7pm, and are required to participate in “team nights” on Thursdays, and are on a probation period for the first month meaning you can’t miss a single day of work, and are absolutely required to work on Saturdays.

the woman who interviewed me was talking about how much she travelled with her co-workers for “R&R” and boasted about relocation opportunities, basically blowing smoke up my a*s. After telling her and disclosing that i had prior commitments on Mondays and Wednesdays, and couldn’t begin working until Thursday, she disregarded me and told me i was to start the following day (Tuesday).

After asking multiple times regarding my “position”and her dodging the question i finally received an answer; “gathering donations on the streets of nyc and making commission based on my sales” basically i was to receive a base pay of $150 + commission. Basically i would be working 70+ hours a week for peanuts.

I felt so disrespected that I was even offered such a ridiculous job, and after further research, these people owe millions to past employees that quit after realizing what kinda bullsh*t they got themselves involved in. Luna partners, and their other alias need to be shut down, and this place needs to get burned down.
