We've had shih tzu's as family pets for over 30 years. Obviously we are well versed with the breed. However, for some unknown reason we did not meet Lone Star's standards. They wouldn't tell us why so we could correct whatever it was they viewed as a problem. Additionally, they were trying to get us to adopt a different dog than what we asked for (our first pick was still available). The dog they wanted us to have was more expensive. The dog we wanted was older, hence less expensive.
It wasn't a matter of money; just the principle of the matter that they were trying to force another dog on us. When we refused, they cancelled our application. The woman who conducted our home visit refused to pronounce the name of the breed correctly. We were more than willing to adopt, but with all the hoops they force people to jump through, we will meet up with a breeder. With 170 something dogs to home, Lone Star is ridiculously picky. We left a similar review on a popular social media site, but Lone Star deleted it; they only want 4 and 5 star ratings.
For starters they don’t even care enough to respond to any emails or social media messages. They don’t even allow you to get the dog you really want. I wasn’t considered to be able to adopt even after donating to this place more than once. My cousin and friend applied and was also DENIED. Keep in mind that’s two separate homes. I was willing to spend 450 dollars to save a pup. I also was very excited for a home visit just so they could see how I prepared for a furever friend. For them to have over 150 dogs needing a home they sure do turn down a lot and I highly doubt someone would spend almost 500 plus what the dog needs if they weren’t serious about adopting. But the good news is I went through another adoption rescue and had my home visit which they got to see how fully prepared and excited I was paid my 600 and will be picking up my baby on March 1!
I am a care giver for a veteran .. I went to them to get this Veteran a service dog .. That will fit his needs .. They deiened me due to the fact I am disabled and I filed the application as a care giver .. This veteran is also Disabled.. He has PTSD which this dog would have been his service dog.. Then they try to say the fee for dog is 250.00 ... Then went to refile the Application and can not because not longer able to .. The application link has been removed or I have been blocked from refiling application.. That also goes for the disabled Veteran when he went to apply on his own ... Plus one of the refrences never got the email to file out her refrence ... We have tried to fix this and they refuse to do anything ..
