We purchased a vehicle from Kenneth E Barker at his place of business "Logan Wholesale". We thought it was his personal vehicle he was selling only to find out from the DMV that he is indeed a dealer. After looking at the van a couple of times we purchased it. We had been doing car faxs on all the cars, but had spent so much money on them we decided not to on this van because we had a good feeling.
We told Ken we were becoming foster parents which is why we needed the van. He told us all about what he fixed on it and that he poured money into because he was going to "tour" in it. Not sure what that meant. He bought the vehicle he printed out a 3 day permit for us so we could drive it home and told us the title and a 90 day permit would be in the mail.
We got home and I just had this feeling that I should check the VIN so we paid 1 more time for a VIN check and we saw that the odometer was set back almost exactly 100,000 miles. We called Ken immedietely and told him we didn't think he was being honest. He claimed we got the VAN like he did whith uknown miles. He's lying though becasue when he got the car the title read the miles correct miles on it.
We proceeded to file complaints with the Attorney Generals Office, the BBB, and the Federal Trade Commision. We got the 90 day, but still no title. So we went to the DMV and they told us he got the title on the 28th of Sept. We bought the car on the 25th. It's not 2 weeks past when we bought the car. We called Ken and he proceeded to tell my husband that if we didn't drop the complaints he was not going to give us a title and by the time his lawyers done with us we won't ever become foster parents or adopt any kids.
Needless to say that didn't scare us we just made sure to document everything and send everything to the AG. Were not sure what to do now. We have proof that he didn't again and there are known complaints with the City of Peoria.
