Recieved an official looking documemt from "Local Records Office" Tittled at the top of the document in bold. It states that they provide a copy of the only doc. that will ID me as the propert owner and I need to send them $89 this is the second letter recieved.
After we recently refinanced our home, we received a letter from: Local Records Office P.O. BOX 509 Norwalk, CA 90651 as returned address. Letter inside says: Local Records Office 2202 S. Figueroa St. # 406 Los Angeles, CA 90007 ph # 800-790-0721. With so many problems we had with the lender during the process and the title co. was not that much help either, no communication, we thought that we had to pay $89 to get our title transfer copy. We were fooled by outside envelope says: IMPORTANT PROPERTY INFO. RESPOND PROMPTLY by deathline 08/17/2017, which we did sent them a personal check for $89, they also cashed it out right away, but never received any copy back from them. So, my guess is, we just loss our $89 to a scam ??? I just found out online today. What a lowlife SOB, pray on the vulnerable ones, when money is tight.
I recently bought a home in Chandler and got a letter indicating I needed a copy of my deed. The fee is $89.00. This is a ripoff attempt to take money from innocent naieve property owners. The address is for The UPS STORE In this strip mall. The UPS STORE is not involved but these ripoff artists have rented a "box" that gives them the false appearance of having a physical street address. I am unaware if THE UPS STORE knows they are abetting this scam.
This company sent a letter to my house stating that I could purchase a copy of my deed from them for. $89.00. They never sent the deed after the payment was sent.
I fell for it !
I fell for it .. except in Ohio. I was a first time home buyer and I also work out of state. I was having to deal with movers , alarm company system , school , helping my sis and my new job that was starting out of state. I quickly read the letter and thought ugh. Of course more money ! I sent a check for 89.00 and a week later my actual mortgage company sent my title with the transfer of prior owners name to mine etc and I sat there and thought ... so I didn't have to pay to get a copy ? Since it was just 89 dollars and I was trying to do a million things I didn't research it or call my mortgage company to ask questions. I fee like an idiot. So far I have not received anything from them ! I didn't read read the fine print. I was an idiot. The letter said it was from Columbus Ohio but my home I purchased was in Westlake ohio so that did make me stop and think for a second .... I should have listened to my gut! Don't fall for it !
This was also reported by someone else and this scam continues. Someone is asking for $89 for the Deed and local area report of a newly purchased home. It is sent as if it is an official part of the new home purchase process calling itself a "Local Records Office" and implying you need to send the payment for the Deed to your new home.
On Aug. 2, 2016 I got a letter from these ripoffs that I could get my records for a title from them. This of course would cost me money. Well knowing they are nothing but a joke I first filed a report with Florida officals. Then I tried to call this ripoff people and of course for a steady 15 minutes of trying a busy phone line. I gues they are too busy to answer. NOT
Your records are free STAY AWAY FROM RIPOFFS
Received a letter shortly after purchasing our home in Wood Dale, IL from "Local Records Office" at 3420 Veterans Dr #321, Pekin, IL 61554 with phone listed as (800) 790-0721. It had my husband's name on it and our address. It says "This service to obtain a copy of your deed or other record or title is not associated with any governmental agency. You can obtain a copy of your deed or other record of yuor title from the county recorder in the county where your property is located" but says we needed to respond by 03/28/2016 to get what the "Local Records Office" says is "a copy of the only document that identifies [husband's name] as the property owner of [our address]." It goes on to list public information about our home, such as size, sale date, sale price, etc. They ask for $89 to receive a copy of the document they claim they will provide.
Received a request for payment of $89 from a organization called "Local Records Office". It appears be related to a deed that issued for our home. in small print it says it is a solicitation, but it is misleading and I'm sure many people pay it. No web address or phone number is included.
The document shows County Public Information, mailed out just after closing on our home. It appears to look like an actual County document, and has an address in our state capitol. All fees should have been taken care of at closing, which is why this appeared to be suspicious.
The top of the document states:
This service to obtain a copy of your deed or other record of title is not associated with any governmental agency. You can obtain a copy of your deed or other record of your title from the county recorder in the county where your property is located for a nominal fee.
It also contains the property id, and basic information found with the county assessor's office, online, for tax parcel information. I am concerned that people who are purchasing their home for the first time may actually think this is a bill, and will pay the money to get the details on their deed, which is actually not as expensive if you were to go to the recorders office to obtain a copy; many of which can be done online.
Beware of this scam. These people should not even be allowed to be an entity, it's deceptive.
I received a letter from this company that looked official from Local Records Office. They offer a copy of "the only document that identifies me as property owner" for $89.00. It has my county name listed as though it is from them.
It is made to look official from the county where I live, but it is not. The information provided on this about my recent home loan is incorrect. That gave it away. This is a Dishonest scam hoping I will pay them. I don't believe they will send anything. Besides, these are public records. This is meant to deceive people who may not know the facts about their records or understand this is not an official letter. They are preying on ignorant people. I'm disgusted and they need to stop this.

One of many letters since the purchase of our new home from a company trying to scam us into information regarding our home. This attempt was to gain $89 from us for a copy of our deed on our home. It has all of our information listed for the home, both my wife and I are listed on the letter, purchase price, so it seems legitimate. I however, took the initiative to research this because it didnt make sense and came across sites stating that this is a scam.
They sent paper work that looked real from the state of Maryland telling me I need my deed for my new home so I sent them the $89 they asked for and now I have no deed and I called the Record Office in Maryland and they tell me we would NEVER DO THAT.
