I am writing in regards to having been seriously scammed by the Litigation Practice Group.
I joined the LPG in 2021. I had an initial screening and phone call which lasted probably 45 minutes, and I decided that they were the 'right' company to help me resolve my debt. Initially they were called Coast Processing. They represented themselves as polite and knowledgeable. While on the phone with me she asked what cards / accounts I wanted to add to the program. I added 7 of the 11 I had open at the time. At this time my credit score was a 626, and all my accounts were still paid on time without any late fees. I joined the program because my debt ratio was too high, and I had accumulated too much debt due to losing my part-time extra job, even though I am disabled. As a legally blind disabled person I am only paid $780 a month, which I explained to them. They took all my accounts and did a calculation and said that if I paid $250 per month for 1 and a half years, they would resolve the 7 cards and my credit score would go up.
When 18 months came, I decided to call them because I was making my last payment and still nothing had changed. If anything, everything was much worse. The LPG had told me to let all my accounts go into default, and that it was fine that I was going to accumulate all those late fees for 18 months, and all that extra debt and such a higher account balance on each card. So, now I had 7 accounts with tons of late payments fees and way higher balances. I called LPG and pointed out I was making my last payment and nothing had changed. Only Discover card had almost taken me to court to instill a judgment, and then dismissed by a judge. The rest of the accounts were open and in collections. The day I made this phone call I couldn't believe how different their tone was with me, and how I was handled. I demanded a refund that day and was connected to the refund department. The guy in the refunded department sounded incredibly young and had zero knowledgeable answers. He refused me a refund and instead yelled at me and told me if I continued to argue with him he would hang up the phone and close my case and I would be out $4,500.00. He claimed that was all for legal fees, not to consolidate my credit. He claimed they didn't have to tell me the name of my so called 'lawyers,' where they are located, who he is, basically nothing. He only said his first name, which was Michael. but they didn't have to tell me anything else. He said that they were still working on my case. That was 8 months ago. It has now been two years and still not one account has been resolved by LPG.
In addition, three of their four phone numbers have been disabled. There is only one line I can contact them on and it puts me on hold for over an hour and then goes to voicemail. I have called every day for two months. I have left messages to no avail. I want a refund from this company immediately.
My credit score stands at 544 today, and all of my accounts are in collections. They are now almost double what they would have been when I started/ So, even if LPG settled these accounts for half, it would be almost the cost of what it was when I first called up, and I am out $4,500.00 for absolutely no work on their end.
I want to reiterate that I am a disabled person. I now get only $990 a month to live off of. At the time before the government raised SSD I was only getting $780 and they were taking $250 of that. When I expressed this to the "refund specialist" he told me that was "too bad." He was by far the rudest person I have ever spoken to. He answered nothing, and made threats to me about my case. I asked for his supervisor and he said there wasn't one. I asked to speak to lawyers representing my case, if that was all for legal fees and he refused. I asked to hear a recorded call of when I signed up, to prove to him they lied to me about what the $4,500 was for and he refused. He told me the representative did not tell me what I was explaining to him that she DID tell me, insinuating I was lying.
