My friend has been living in one of the apartments in a Duplex on 5917 N 3rd St, Philadelphia, pa, 19120. It is a basement apartment; an apartment that is in shambles, and has been for many years. She has reached out and complained about what needs to be fixed, but either nothing was done, or a project was started, but never completed.
She has currently moved out due to the unlivable conditions of the apartment. It is an unsafe place to live for herself and her children, and we have been informed that the Landlords may not have a license to operate said duplex as well.
It is infested with bugs and mice, the bathroom sink is detached from the wall. The pipes above her bathtub has been exposed for a few years due to owners, Charles and Linda Rivers not following up with the repairs after her bathroom leak was fixed.
It was left up to the tenant to cover the exposed pipes with plastic and tape. The wires are exposed on most of the electrical outlets and light switches, a few missing an actual outlet or light switch completely, due to lack of coverage not completed by the landlords.
The tenant was left involuntarily responsible for replacing the carpet and the refrigerator. There is also mold in certain areas of the apartment, as well as multiple holes in the walls that were not created by the tenant herself, including a large, gapping, square hole that leads to the outside of the apartment if not covered properly.
She has reported all issues to the landlords on multiple occasions throughout her time of residence there and nothing was ever done to resolve these issues.
