While residing her for the last 3 years I have been through 3 different management companies. The current Landlord that goes by the name of Gagik has violated several fair housing laws pursuent to civil code 1942 as well as denying he owns the property. In regards to having the apartment building up to code. We have several hazaerds that have made it for un habitable living conditions to name a few : Black mold that was addressed to him and not fixed. Gagik gave me a paper to sign refusing to sue him in regards to the mold which I refused to sign. Because I did not sign the arbitration agreement in regards to the mold he in turn refused to fix it. The second issue was his refusal to fumigate the building blaming it on the neighbors. He has also brcoke fair housing by informing other tenants of our residential status (ie evictions and informing our neighbors if we have paid rent or not).
We have been without heat for the past year and have addressed the concern with our landlord as fair housing suggests but he refuses to fix it. Tehachapi is amountain community and allows Landlords 3 days to fix anything that would be unacceptable for living conditions such as no heat when degrees areach below 20 degrees. We have also went without hot water for 2 weeks as well as rent increase above the demographic for this area which is also against fair housing. He also has an account that he has forced us to make cash deposits in for rent which is also against thew law because the account is in his wifes name and not a ficticious business making it easy for him to hide funds. It is also again against the law as well for these things and concerns to be brought to his attention and his refusal to fix said concerns are refusal to provide safe living conditions for me and my son and boyfriend. In turn when these were brought to his artteniton we did not receive a lease we received a pay or quit notice.
