Liccardi Ford, Inc. Reviews

  • Jun 17, 2016

My husband was in a car accident and needed a replacement vehicle. We went to Liccardi Ford Lincoln May 7, 2016. Allan was our sales guy. We wanted a pickup. We ended up test driving a GMC Sierra Hybrid. My husband fell in love. We left a credit card deposit of $500. Keep in mind, we are from Staten Island and this dealer is in New Jersey.

We went back on Thursday ready to try to negotiate a better price and they would not budge. Ok fine. We purchased an extended warranty (thank God!). Allan assured us that they put about $1,000 of work into the vehicle (brakes, rotors, oil change, etc. - we later found out from the service dept. that this was complete BS). They cleaned up the truck and we took it home the same night.

Friday night my husband was driving the truck over some pretty bumpy ground (the street was tilled for repaving) and the entire truck just completely shut off. Took a few minutes but he got it running and brought it right home.

Saturday morning he immediately took the truck back to the dealer. They ran some diagnostics and decided to replace the battery. 5 hours later he finally left the shop. On his way home, the truck died again. He stopped in at Greenboro GMC and he was told that they could not work on the vehicle because the extended warranty we purchased did not go into effect until the 91st day after purchase. Any repairs would have to go through the dealer where the purchase was made. So, he went back to Liccardi and was told that there was nothing they could do, please bring the truck back on Monday and they would give it a complete go-over.

Monday my husband brought the truck over to Liccardi and was told that it would be at least 2-3 days for it to be fixed. They did not have any loaner vehicles but brought my husband to the local rental agency and assured him that he would be reimbursed for the rental.

On Thursday I called the service dept. because we had no update. They told me they would call the GMC dealer the next morning and let us know what was happening. We heard nothing by Saturday, so we we decided to go pay a visit. This was Memorial Day weekend and it was 90+ degrees outside. We spoke with a manager of the entire dealership and he told us he was going to try to work out where they would basically just buy the vehicle back and we would be responsible for nothing. He had to speak with other managers but he felt it would be ok. We left because the showroom was stifling hot - they did not have the air conditioner on (my 3 year old son was SOAKING WET with sweat by the time we left).

So the following Tuesday my husband went with a friend to try get this all resolved. They told him that they would buy back the vehicle for the purchase price MINUS $9,000 for depreciation (we only had the vehicle for almost 2 weeks!). And they refused to refund him the $900 for the rental car that they promised him that he would be reimbursed for. We also found out that Liccardi screwed the car rental place for over $40,000.

I've tried to get this under lemon law, but unfortunately the vehicle is 1 year older than the maximum that the attorney general allows. So we are stuck with this piece of garbage truck that has been in the shop for more days that it was parked in our driveway. I'm exploring other avenues in what action we can take.

I was ripped off with the rental car also. They promised to pay for it and now they are refusing to release a check in reimbursement.
