Dany Bélair from Gatineau Outaouais (the greater Ottawa), has completely ripped us off. I can’t believe how much of a scammer he is. I heard horror stories of how people have been scammed and ripped off, but I never thought it would happen to me.
I’ve been renting my apartment on AirBNB for many years with no issues whatsoever. So far the experience has been great with all the guests which are usually polite and respectful. You can also read reviews about the guests to see if they are a good fit or not. My AirBNB profile has only positive reviews, I always make sure my place is clean & has all the necessary stuff for a stress-free stay (toilet paper, soap, towels, etc.)

He’s been the worst guest we ever had since listing our place on AirBNB. At first, he looked OK and there were no red flags. I also think AirBNB does a background check on guests before letting them book your place. He had only 1 bad review from another person who rented his place to him, but I didn’t think much of it.
What turned out to be a pleasant experience & profitable one renting our place on AirBNB has turned into a literal nightmare because of Dany Bélair.
On day one, I started having a bad vibe about him. He smelled funny, had very bad breath, and was asking very weird questions. I didn’t think much of it, and I regret it deeply to not have declined his booking. What can I do? He was already there. The place was already booked by him. I was also afraid of him, since he seemed to be the kind of person who will become confrontational about little things.
What used to be a nice looking apartment in a quiet suburban family-friendly place turned into a catastrophe with the police involved. Dany Bélair from Gatineau used my place to solicit prostitutes. I want to make one thing clear: these were not his friends or family members. They were prostitutes. He used my apartment listed on AirBNB to have sex with prostitutes. Obviously this is not allowed on AirBNB, and especially not in my apartment. It’s also illegal.
I was first notified of problems when the police called me saying they were inside my apartment to investigate a possible crime. I was completely shocked and told the police that they probably have the wrong number, until they told me they arrested Dany Bélair for soliciting prostitutes. He is indeed my AirBNB guest, and I couldn’t believe it. What crime could he possibly do to the point of having the police INSIDE my apartment and arresting him.
I went to the apartment as fast as I could and I was in complete shock to see that indeed, the police were there. Not only this, the apartment was completely destroyed and dirty. There were dirty clothes everywhere, the apartment smelled like cigarettes & marijuana (I made it clear that no smoking was allowed), there was urine on the floor, Dany Bélair was extremely drunk.
He vomited everywhere in our apartment, clogged the toilet with his feces, and was extremely belligerent with the police. He was handcuffed and crying and screaming while laying on the floor.
It was 3 in the morning, and all my neighbors were outside looking at me as if I was some sort of criminal because of what just happened. Now because of him, I can’t rent my place on AirBNB anymore because of neighbors' complaints, and I can't blame them! As I said this was a family-friendly place in a nice neighborhood until Dany Bélair temporarily moved in, and started having prostitutes over in the middle of the night.
He turned this charming place into a sex dungeon for him and his sick fantasty. I explained to the police that he was a customer through AirBNB. The police were nice and professional, and were even scolding him for what he did to the apartment. They kept telling Dany Bélair that he should be ashamed of himself, but he was too busy crying while being drunk as a sailor.
They took him in handcuffs at the police station. But what about my apartment that’s been damaged? What about his aggressive behavior towards my neighbors? Who is going to clean his urine all over the floor? Apparently he assaulted one of the prostitutes, so now the investigators have to come back to my apartment the next day to investigate further and they are not allowing me to clean the apartment first.
So here I am left with a destroyed apartment that I can’t clean and can’t rent until the police are done investigating what Dany Bélair from Gatineau Outaouais has done. I have an apartment smelling like urine that I can’t clean until the police are done with their investigations.
I opened a claim with AirBNB hoping they will refund me the damage this idiot caused. I gave them the police report showing that Dany Bélair assaulted a prostitute inside the apartment, and they suspended his account. So far I have yet to hear back from AirBNB about my monetary loss, but was told that I’d be refunded for the cleaning & repair fees of my apartment. That’s great, but I’m still waiting for that. Also, that doesn’t change the fact that Dany Bélair destroyed my side business. Now I can’t rent it on AirBNB anymore because of my neighbors.
The next day, I had his supposedly wife named Laurie-Pier Beauchamp calling me multiple times. I thought she wanted to make things right for what her husband has caused, but actually she wasn’t interested in apologizing for his aggressive behavior in destroying my apartment or for turning it into a place filled with prostitutes.
She instead wanted me to give her the security footage of the building to see which girls were visiting her husband. I told her I don’t have any security footage, it belongs to the building manager and not to me. I only own the apartment, not the whole building. She insisted that she needed to know with whom her husband has been sleeping with!!!
She kept asking me that she wanted to know whether Dany Bélair was cheating on her or not. I told her that he obviously was if the police arrested him for soliciting prostitutes. She started crying and hung up on me. I actually feel bad for Laurie-Pier Beauchamp.
If renting my place to this crook Dany Bélair caused my business so much harm with the police investigating and the apartment sprayed with Dany Bélair’s urine and vomit, I can’t believe how horrible it must be for Laurie-Pier Beauchamp to live with him & his erratic & aggressive behavior.
His wife Laurie-Pier Beauchamp called me and wanted to make things right. She started by apologizing for her stepdad attitude, and offered to pay me the cleaning fees and repair fees. She said Dany Bélair is an abusive person.
What really bothers me is that the apartment can’t be rented anymore because of all the commotion created by Dany Bélair’s illegal activity in my apartment. How can 1 guest destroy my business?
