If you plan on getting what you paid for, better avoid the Powell Brothers DBA Headwack LLC & LensFactory.com.
I ordered lenses from them, online, for a pair of safety prescription glasses I needed. I called them up and asked them in advance if they could stamp my lenses for a pair of safety prescription glasses. They said yes, they could stamp them.
I talked to them about it in an email a second time, when they emailed me to say that an issue I had opened was closed. Truth be told, I didn't open any issue --- at that time --- obviously they confused me with another customer they had disenfranchised.
Again, as I was told to, I notated it on the electronic order form in the comments section. As well, I sent a copy of the order form with the frames I provided; with the request for stamped lenses circled with a highlighter.
Not only did they misrepresent their ability to stamp the lenses, but they told me they could make a pair of prescription safety glasses in 1.67 high index lenses, and then sent me a pair of 1.53 polycarbonate lenses, and charged me for the 1.67 lenses.
I needed the lenses stamped, so I could get reimbursed from the Safety Coordinator on the jobsite I was working on. The SC wanted his underlings to be able to see the stamped lens, rather than stop your progress to check a piece of paper to see if your lenses were legitimate, or see if your frames were ANSI Z-87 rated.
It wasn't required; but it was saving time, so I was all for it. Everybody knows time is money and money is time. Aside from that you'd get a free pair of prescription safety glasses. That's why I called and asked prior to ordering! Had I known they were going to renege on their promise, I'd have gone elsewhere.
I don't know if they're just incompetent, or if they out and out lied, but it was a comedy of errors. Besides he discrepancy about the ability to stamp the lenses, the discrepancy about the ability to make safety glasses with a 1.67 lens, I was forced to buy a product that didn't meet my needs. Adding insult to injury, I also had to shell out money for another pair of glasses, from a company that had the ability to stamp the lenses.
LensFactory didn't even bother to call to say "hey, we got issues with your order" --- nope they just proceeded, as if I was so ignorant I'd never notice. According to the Better Business Bureau, they been in business for seven years. Apparently, they really haven't learned any of the pitfalls of their business in the last seven years.
I asked for a refund but they said the only way I would get one was if I expected Pyramex lenses. The only thing I expected from them was to be honorable, and provide what they said they were going to provide. I could have cared less what brand of lens they provided as long as it was stamped. The note said "stamp the lenses appropriately." It didn't say stamp it with a "P" for Pyramex or Phillips Safety.
As a veteran, I like to surround myself with folks who pay attention to detail. These folks are lacking in that ability. Bottom line is that they sold me a bill of goods, and it appears that they have no scruples.
If you are working on a power plant, an oil rig, a military base, or around the Army Corp of Engineers, and you need prescription safety glasses, avoid doing business with the Powell Brothers, DBA Headwack LLC & Lens Factory/LensFactory. In my case, it's obvious they didn't even make an effort to get it right.
