LGI invited us to a dinner to "update" us on our existing Timeshare ownership. When we arrived, we discovered they were marketing a different timeshare program, but we still were under the impression they were "representing" our original timeshare company and the timeshare exchange partner we were associated with.
The program they offered presumably would give us more vacation time (nearly two weeks); reduce our annual maintenance fees (by half); increase unit availability within the Pacific NW area specifically for the summer months; make short time trips (4-5day) and exchanges easier; and give us an exit strategy from the program.
We were shown the exchange catalogue, but of course there was no way to check the unit availability for the specific area and/or specific periods. The pressure to buy on the spot was intense - they would not be in the area after that one evening and could not afford us any time to contemplate and/or check out the pros/cons.
What we got was points that would accomodate less than one week; no available exchange units within the specific area for more than 4 years; short trips were available for cash only - not point exchanges; and numerous additional costs to close.
We were charged closing costs to release the old Timeshare program and to purchase the new program; annual maintenance fees for both packages, and an upgraded exchange membership to the tune of $3,270 plus the purchase price of $13,448 for the initial 3 year lease period. Our old Timeshare program was a permanently deeded program. It was during this time that we became aware that they were in no way associated with our old timeshare company and in fact the old company had no knowledge of them what-so-ever.
Within a few weeks, we requested the entire transaction to be reversed - we would take back our old package and release the new one - to appease us at that point, LGI doubled our initial new points and released the old timeshare points back to us. All the time assuring us that the new program was more flexible and user friendly.
To date, I have attempted numerous times to find available units anywhere in the Pacific NW area during the June-August period to no avail for the periods 2015 - 2018. This would mean we pay annual maintenance fees of $1,000 for 3 years and 3 years of exchange membership at $169 and cannot access any units for our specific time frame - unless we "might" find something for a quick getaway within a 45 day window for additional fees (no point exchange).
In other words, the total package is absolutely worthless!!!
We were lied to, the program was totally misrepresented, and in general Ripped Off!
