Let me start off by saying I am in school for dental assisting, and have been to many offices in my life time. This was the most horrific experience I've ever had. I started developing extreme pain on Friday night in my back tooth. As many people know a tooth ache is the worst. I woke up Saturday morning in even worse pain. I woke up panicking and looked up dental offices open near me on a Saturday morning. I came across Lee family dentistry online. The site looked ok so I thought, why not! I called and was immediately given an appoinment which should have been my first red flag. But I was in so much pain I was willing. I went in and red flags kept popping up left and right. If I could go back I would have got up and walked out.
For starters, the assistant seemed completely flustered and was very rude. She did not want to be working and that was clear. She fumbled in my mouth for a good five minutes trying to get an X-ray of my mouth. I eventually had to help her put it in. She seemed very nervous. The dentist came in prodded around in my mouth for a second and said you need a root canal! Then immediately they come in with a bill for 1760 dollars and ask if I'm in pain. I said yes. They said well if the dentist can start today then it will atleast relieve your pain. So i agreed to let him start the root canal. Here's another kicker, apparently they had just moved their office to this location. I asked for laughing gas before my procedure and was told they didn't have it set up yet! Are you kidding me?!
The whole time during the procedure the dentist was very rude to the assistant and I could really pick up on it. He did not finish so he put in a temporary filling. Then they literally sat me up and sent me out. I got absolutely NO post operative instructions on how to care for a temporary filling. And just a prescription for antibiotics absolutely no pain medication. I asked the dentist If my pain would go away and he said yes if it does not call the office and leave a message and I'll call you back or try to. I left and my tooth was literally throbbing in pain. I had an old prescription for ibuprofen and was taking so much that I maxed out and could not take anymore. I called the dentist crying Saturday night and he said he was sorry and keep taking antibiotic and that if I needed pain meds I had to wait until Monday to come in to the office. He said he would not call any In for me . I kept calling in so much pain asking what to do then I started not getting my calls returned returned .
At this point I've been up for 24 hours and it's Sunday morning. Dr. Lee called me and asked how I was feeling, and very upset I told him I'm miserable. He said antibiotic and pretty much hung up on me. Then Sunday night I had enough and said I was contacting a lawyer. 2 minutes later Dr. Lee texts me bsck and calls in a prescription for Tylenol and texted sorry that's all I can do for you until tomorrow . At this point I did not ever want to go back. I got absolutely no calls Monday morning from the office or Dr. Lee to check on me after the countless messages I left.
I called my dentist I usually see and was brought in immediately. My dentist looked and I told him what happend and he was even concerned. My dentist wanted to know what Dr. Lee had done Saturday so he called and requested my clinical notes. We waited and nothing. Then the dentist came in and asked that I call Dr. Lees office personally and ask them to send it. They only sent the X-ray to the office. So I had to call back. And the receptionist on the phone told me I was "pushing her buttons" because I told her she only sent the X-ray and not the clinical notes. are you kidding me!!??? Then she said she had only been there a week and to be nice to her. It was the most unprofessional crap I've ever dealt with. They finally sent the clinical notes over to my dentist. The dentist said the notes were very unclear. My dentist had finished the root canal. I then went to Dr. Lees asking for a refund and was told they will contact me and as of yet I have not been reimbursed
