Stupidly, i used YELP to find a criminal defense attorney. I had never been accused of any crimes in my life, and didn't know the proper way to search for a defense attorney.
Daniel R. Perlman advertised a "flat fee" service where you pay once he takes care of your case to it's conclusion. Little did I know this was a complete fraud. No Attorney can logically assess how complex or legnthy a criminal case is going to be, especially one that is a politically motivated frame job.
A few months into my case, after paying in almost $30,000 to Daniel R. Perlman, I received an email from him stating "I need more money". When I refused to give him more money, he simply stopped doing any meaningful work on my case. Calls went unanswered both from myself and from the national media which was positively covering my case.
Daniel also attempted to deceive me into accepting a "felony" plea deal. He stated the deal would never get any better and I better take it, or end up in jail, where he said "i wouldnt do too well". What Perlman was attempting to do was simply get rid of this case asap so he could maximize his profits. Almost all attorneys will tell you the longer you stretch a case out, the better the deals get. Either way I was innocent and had no desire to take a felony plea deal for a crime I didn't commit.
I fired Daniel, hired a new attorney who cleaned up Daniel's mess and billed me well into the six figures!
I contacted Daniel to give me a refund and he threatened to frame me for crimes! Yes he threatened to frame me for crimes for asking for a refund.
In my opinion and experience Daniel R. Perlman is a shining example of fraud, deceit and dishonesty.
