In early January 2021, Karen Horyza was served notice that she had abandoned a room she had been renting from a single Mom in the basement of a house located in Kamloops' North Shore. Ms. Horyza hadn't resided in the room for approximately 6 months and had failed to pay January rent.
The single Mom advised Ms. Horyza that she would no longer be permitted on the premises and that her belongings would be removed from the premises at her expense - all in accordance with B.C. Law and her written Room Mate Agreement which she had signed and which provided that she was not a 'tenant', but only a room mate and whereupon 7 days passed without Ms. Horyza residing in the room, that the room was deemed to have been abandoned and therefore Ms. Horyza had no protection under the B.C. Residential Tenancy Act and further that the Room Mate Agreement was terminated for cause.
In mid-January 2021 and in violation of the B.C. Trespass Act, Ms. Horyza unlawfully attended at the single Mom's residence and unlawfully gained entry to both the basement of the single Mom's home and Ms. Horyza's former room, whereupon she was advised by a duly authorized person that she had no right to either attend at or enter the premises and that if she didn't immediately leave, that the RCMP would be called and charges of Trespass would be filed against her.
Ms. Horyza threatened the single Mom's duly authorized person and sent threatening texts to the single Mom - threatening her job. The single Mom immediately notified the RCMP and Ms. Horyza was issued a 'Caution Statement' by the RCMP to the effect that she was not permitted on either the property, or to enter the premises.
In the subsequent days that followed, Ms. Horyza continued sending the single Mom threatening texts whereupon the single Mom entered Ms. Horyza's room for the purpose of packing up Ms. Horyza's abandoned belongings and there did discover an unlicenced, unregistered, illegal firearm among Ms. Horyza's abandoned possessions. The firearm was legally secured and disposed of and Ms. Horyza's belongings were packed up and delivered to her live-in boyfriend's house in Upper Sahali.
When the single Mom's authorized person followed up with the RCMP, the attending RCMP Officer advised the single Mom's authorized person that Ms. Horyza was 'out for blood' and advised the single Mom's authorized person to use caution when dealing with Ms. Horyza.
Karen Horyza has since used her position at Lansdowne Liquor to 'ban' both the single Mom and the single Mom's authorized person from either entering or shopping at Lansdowne Liquor because Karen Horyza is a vicious, vindictive, lying con artist with a vendetta against people who call her out on her illegal activities and wrong-doings.
Any persons having any dealings with Karen Horyza should use extreme caution in order to avoid a similar fate as that of the single Mom and her duly authorized person.
In accordance with S. 6.1 of the B.C. Libel and Slander Act, the aforementioned represents 'fair comment' (being the truth) and therefore does not constitute libel and is therefore inactionable at common law.
