Lakeside Family Medicine Reviews
January 2012 I became very ill. It was so bad I experienced simultaneous vomiting and diarrhea. I was fighting the illness for the entire month. February was even worse. That is when I became injured while jogging. It was a tennis ball sized red infection. it began bleeding. I could not walk properly. I had to use crutches. It hurt EVERY time I moved. The worst pain I experienced getting up from lying down and laying down from being up, sitting from standing, and standing from sitting. I believed it to be some type of horrible sprain. I don't know why it happened but they said it was because of a infected hair follicle. I refuse to believe this cheap and quick diagnosis as to the cause of the infection. I had an infection on my thigh under my knee. This was a very large tennis ball sized infection. The P.A. the assistant doctor, said that it was an abscess, they tried to remove it and they tried to inject with some type of injection. Both attempts failed but at least I know of the diagnosis. They prescribed Bactrum, Backtrum, Baktrum, Backtrim, Bactrim, Baktrim, Back Trim. SOME THING LIKE THAT, a sulfa antibiotic. The P.A. the assistant doctor said I should go to the hospital (The local county one) because an infection this large can be very serious. She also (the P.A. the assistant doctor) signed me up for Home Health. The infection burst open again, and this time it started to heal. The wound closed. Based on reports from the R.N. and the L.P.N.s at Victory Home Health & Hospice, Dr. Ahearn (I only met her ONCE) said that I do not have to go to the hospital. At the end of that week, I could not sleep properly. I don't know why, but when I woke up I had red spots all over my skin. I had open sores in my mouth. I was bleeding in my nose and I was bleeding in my mouth. I was urinating blood. I could not pass a bowel movement. I continued to urinate blood. The urine was dark red, almost black. My abdomen hurt and my sides hurt. It would not stop hurting no matter what. The L.P.N. checked my body (my skin, because of the red spots) and said my wound (thigh, next to under my knee) burst open again !!!!!!!!!! I went to Marshall County Hospital, who then released me to be sent home. (Tinuola Agbabiaka) After a huge fight with that hospital, they sent me to at first Johnston County Hospital, but then rerouted it to TMC, Texoma Medical Center, Denison TX. Denison, Texas, I was sent by ambulance with Oxygen and various IV injections and I was throwing up almost the entire time. The paramedics said "Sorry, but there is no such thing as a smooth road in Oklahoma." LOL. "We will be there in an hour, we will go as fast as we can, but It will take about an hour even though we are 17 miles away." LOL!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was attended in the ER by an Asian (oriental, not Indian) woman, I spent approximately 4 or 5 days in that TMC hospital, most of it in ICU. The machines would not stop beeping. I had Vital Signs monitors, and 4 or 5 different IV injections, which kept beeping and the nurses had to "flush" them to the point they were sick and tired of it. I was in constant physical pain. The nurse on duty would not help me. After screaming at the top of my lungs for help, a nurse (blonde, robotic, but VERY professional) on her way to a different station or ward stopped to help me. It that nurse and probably one other (I can't remember.) didn't stop to help me, then I would not have survived. The doctors (at the hospital, the Attending Physician or whatever she's called) (red or brown 1980s hair) and her husband (lol) the oncologist Dr. Azar Ehsan were helpful WHEN THEY COULD BE REACHED. Their bedside manor was acceptable. The appeared to treat me like a person. They understood my requests to be let out of be bed; to be walked to the toilet and granted that request. He said every time he saw me "We're going to get you out of here." I had many tests. I had what looked like a CAT SCAN or an MRI or whatever that giant spinning machine is, I had ultrasounds ... ?! I had a Bone Marrow Biopsy. Among the various IVs I told you about, they are the every day average Salt Water Saline IV, and Anti Biotics. (They were in large glass jars lol.) And some nasty slimey "Platelets" things. He referred me to Dr. Schreiver (sp) for my new primary physician. Unfortunately I could not see that new Doctor because they did not accept my (IMHO worthless) Insurance. Isn't it true that the best doctors only accept the best insurance?! But Dr. Ehsan sternly said that he did not want me to go back to Dr. Ahearn. The rural doctors "miss [overlook] the big ones [diseases] " and that Dr. Ahearn certainly didn't take precautions for something that serious. He said if I ever wake up bleeding and with spots, go directly to TMC and ask for him. I was released IMHO prematurely but at least I still had Home Health nurses. It took WEEKS for me to begin walking without crutches. To be able to lift something AS LIGHT AS A FEATHER without EXHAUSTING MYSELF. The red spots took WEEKS to go away also. I was prescribed an endless amount of Prednizone (!) with a smaller dose each month. I had two more appointments with Dr. Azar Ehsan at Texas Oncology he took a blood sample each time and then released me again. I have mostly recovered. I have switched to water and a pork-free diet and a cardiovascular exercise. I have taken care of the scars from the bleeding wounds all by myself. It took a few more months for the scabs to finally fall off. After that, I used moisturizing lotion, especially in the areas the injuries were located. My thigh has 99.9% healed and you can't tell I was ever had any bleeding wounds nor red spots. Some People told me that I have every right to sue Dr. Pamela Ahearn and Lakeside Family Medicine. But of course nobody helped me nor did they even point me in the right direction. I don't know what to do. I don't think any thing can be done. If I can get restitution, that would be wonderful. Also, I would REALLY like to have affordable "The Best Of The Best" Health, Medical, Etc. Insurance. FOR FREE. lol. I don't know any of the other doctors and hospitals could be sued either. However, I should sue Dr. Ahearn and Lakeside Family Medicine. If nothing can be done, let this be a consumer alert for those who want to have anything to do with Kingston will experience difficulty finding a competent doctor and clinic and hospital.
