I bought the unlimited shipping deal. It's for one year. I did buy a few cases with it. However, the Winter holidays came soon after that, I wanted to stock up on special wines for all those occasions.
The first problem is that they completly oversold their wine deals. Even when special deals sold-out right away, they didn't pull the campaigns. You could get into their site, think you'd purchased a special wine deal, for a holiday or any other reason, and it just wouldn't show up at your door, ever.
In the end, I ended up with nothing at all for any of the Winter holidays, despite several "purchases." They never notified me.
Calling them is a nightmare. I ended up going round-and-round with them. I called them to try to get them to at least ship me some reasonable replacements for the holidays and they told me I'd already gotten my money's worth out of my unlimited shipping (basically, they suggested I stop complaining). My response was that it's supposed to be "unlimited" and that it's not up to them to tell me when I've used it "enough."
I said I was leaving the club, offered to split on it, to let them keep half the cost, as I hadn't even used it for six months, but they refused. This was during COVID. And, I did tell them I understood they were struggling with customer service because of that but they should be understanding from the side that their overall service was horrible and that they weren't being accommodating on their side about it.
In the end, I put a dispute in with my credit card company. Laithwaite's was not able to resolve it and, instead, 2-3 years later, are now sending me bills and threatening to sic creditors on me.
