We’ve owned 14 LZB recliners in the past and these don’t begin to measure up. On one chair, squeaks and loose legs; on second chair, squeaks, back crooked. Customer care has been out 3 times and replaced 3 different parts.
Service person takes pics and agrees with our assessment. Store manager says he’s never seen pics and service report indicates none of the problems. Warranty is worth nothing. LZB's quality has sunk to trash.
I ordered a Gibson Rockling Recliner with Swivel base, merlot leather, and airform cushioning on 5/06/2021 at the Greenvile, SC Woodruff Rd. store for $2416.74. When I received this chair I didn't have time to test it out so I had the delivery team just leave it in my living room and I went back to work. Later on in the evening I sat down in the chair, pulled the recline lever, and was immediately dumped backwards out of the chair.
I called customer service to put in a service request and a repair technician came out and inspected my chair after a couple of months. The technician informed me that during the build of this chair one of the assemblers broke off a screw in the base and instead of grabbing another base to install he just moved over and screwed it together out of tolerance.
Support bars were installed backwards, the swivel base had a lot of play in it and would spin freely like an office chair and the chair ratcheted backwards as soon as I sat in it. Literally nothing was installed correctly in this chair. After 3 visits from the repair technician I had the chair mostly where I wanted it except the tech wasn't able to fix the swivel base so I had him install a regular rocker base with no swivel. I called customer service and asked to speak to supervisor but was forced to relay a message that I wanted a refund for the $100 swivel base add-on.
The supervisor flatly refused the refund of the $100. I called the general manager at the store that I purchased the chair from and he said he would call me back the same day but never reached back out to me and when I called I was told he wasn't in. The GM seems to take a lot of time off or is using his employees to act as a buffer so he doesn't have to speak to customers. I contacted my bank BofA and was told by a customer service rep that I could drop the chair off and dispute the transaction.
I took the chair to the store where I purchased and was met by a young salesperson who took the receipt back to the manager and 5 minutes later he comes up with a paper in his hand saying we took care of it today. I know he just printed that out and had no intention of making things right with me in the first place, he was just trying to keep me from filing complaints against him and seeking a refund. I filed my payment dispute with the bank was promptly declined. I called into to my bank and it turns out that what the cs rep told me was incorrect and they couldn't chargeback a transaction that old since it had been months of waiting on repairs I was out of the dispute window.
Now La-z-boy has my chair and my money so I guess I'm just going to file a small claims suit against them to recoup the money. La-z-boy is not the same company that your dad or grandpa bought their recliner from. The frames are made of a composite board like particleboard with glue instead of hardwood which they claim is stronger but does not hold screws in as well. The assemblers rush through installing components out of tolerance and support brackets backwards. I paid way more for this recliner than I would've from a competitive because la-z-boy is supposed to be higher quality but it's not better quality. When a customer pays over $2,000 for a single recliner they shouldn't have to go through a bunch of repairs only to be left still uncomfortable and to be refused a refund on a defective $100 add-on. It's all about the money for this company and they've completely forgotten what has made them a success in the first place.
We have purchased three recliners from la-z-boy but their quality and customer service has declined substantially.

When we purchased the first one 20 years ago, the customer service was outstanding. Cost approx. $850. They have “lifetime warranty” on the chair. That’s why we have bought two more. The first chair’s mechanics were perfect even after 15 years and when we were ready to replace because of material wear and tear . . . the chair still worked great. They replaced a handle for me and also came to inspect material once when there was a problem . . . ended up cleaning up while they were there.
We bought two more chairs a couple of years ago from the same store in Rockville Centre. Each chair cost $800+. One of the chairs is substantially less quality. The stuffing has flattened, the seat collapsed and the chair does not close properly after being foot rest has been used.
I have recently paid $220 for repairs to the chair from their authorized repairman and been told only the “reclining mechanism” have a lifetime warranty for parts only. The chair still does not work after the repairs.
The chair now needs to be tossed to the curb! And for over $800 and 3 years of usage. We are a professional working couple, so the chair gets minimal usage . . . at most a couple of hours in the evenings.
I have been told by the store the problems are out of the one year warranty.
We were lifetime customers but now will buy from other retailers as they don’t stand behind the products as they did many years ago.
I purchased a leather recliner for over $1,000.00 and also purchased the extended warranty for $200.00 more because the sales person told me that it would cover anything that happened to it for the next 5 years. It's now 2 and 1/2 years later and the leather is peeling on both sides of the chair where no part of a persons body even touches.
I called Lazyboy and they instructed me to call the warranty people where they sold me the policy. I emailed photos as requested and about 4 hours later they called and denied my claim citing " Accumulation of Damage ", I asked what that meant and they said " I reported to much damage at one time ". I asked for a manager which called the next day and changed it to normal wear and tear, she then denied coverage a second time.
I went to the Lazyboy store the next morning and asked for help from the manager who said sorry I cant help you. I made a sign that said " ASK ME ABOUT LAZYBOY " and went outside on the side walk in front of the store and walked back and forth where the autos could see me and the manager called the sheriffs department to have me removed as I expected.
The name of the junk warranty they sell is Furniture care protection.
The warranty protection that Lazyboy is selling is a complete RIP OFF !!
Bought a recliner 6 months ago at lazyboy. Yesterday it broke when I was sitting (I’m not that fat) called customer service and the first date available is in two weeks or a day that would work
for me in 6 weeks...so I’m here taking a day off/changing schedules work because lazy boy bad customer service...
if I can’t make it that day it would be another two weeks...It’s ridiculous they can only come on a random day per week or two weeks for such an expensive chair that lasted only 6 months. I’m really disappointed in the quality of the chair/recliner and the bad customer service
My husband inherited an old recliner and I saw the great quality the chair has with thick leather and tight seams. I decided to save up some money and get one for myself. When we were at the store I noticed the leather was a lot thinner than our old chair.
I asked the salesman about it and he assured me that it is super strong and if I was still concerned I could purchase an extra 5 year warranty for any stains, tears, cracking, etc etc. I did purchase the extra warranty and the salesman said they would register my chair through their system.
In January 2019 I contacted the store I purchased at to let them know I would need to have a warranty call on my cracked leather. I was told the original salesman never registered my warranty! They say the warranty company would not honor my warranty.
I was offered a return of my warranty expense. But, seeing the thin leather and becoming worried about it (obviously I was right about the leather strength) I would not have purchased the chair without the extended warranty. I do not want my warranty fee back, I want what I paid for!
I contacted the corporate office several times. They are extremely slow to respond and now will not respond at all. The most they would offer is a "discount" on the repairs. Again, why should I have any out-of-pocket expense when I purchased the extra protection?! I am not asking for anything crazy like a whole new chair I just want what I paid for and what I'm due!
I just purchased two new La-Z-Boy loveseats. Soon after the first one arrived I developed a headache. The 2nd Loveseat had to be ordered and came after a few weeks. The odor is quite apparent. I have placed the cushions out doors numerous times to air them out. I have opened all my windows and doors to air out my home, in spite of snow on the ground. I placed a fan and air filter next to the sofa. My nose, Throat, and sinuses are all irritated. My eyes and skin are itching. I have had a headache for approximately six weeks, just after the arrival of the first sofa. I went away from my home for a few days. None of these has alleviated the odor still emanating from the sofa. My nose, throat, and sinus are all irritated. My eyes and skin are itching. I have had a headache for approximately six weeks, just after the arrival of the first sofa. I went away from my home for a few days. None of these has alleviated the odor still emanating from the sofa, And my health continues to be impaired. I want these items removed and all of my money refunded. Research indicates that La-Z-Boy purchases fabric from Asia that is treated with a mold retardant chemical that is considered highly toxic, and is banned in Europe. Dimethyl fumarate or DMF, is the chemical that I have read Is implicated. Hopefully the furniture store I Purchased these from will give me a full refund as well as pick up the items. If not, I may be filing a complaint against them as well.
Bought a lazyboy astor in 3/2015. it slowly fell apart. i called lazyboy 12/2016 it cost over 400 dollars plus many new parts to make like new. in5/2017 it again fell apart to the point i was sitting almost on the floor. frame, back, foam, and material all needed repaired or replaced. lazyboy said damage was do to normal wear and tear and i would have to cover cost of material and labor at 109 dollars per hour. they are saying after 2 or 3 years your rocker is useless. i am 75 years old , live by myself and am not hard on furniture. so far i have spent over 900 dollars. it would cost about the same to repair it. really bad quality and service.
In 2013 I purchased a living room suite from Lazy Boy Furniture. I purchased a five year warranty with the suite. Within a year of purchase the suite started showing defects. Like tiny breaks in the leather and the seats started breaking down. I contacted Lazy Boy. They did nothing and did not honor their warranty.I have a warranty that is still in effect until 2018. I am out around seven thousands dollars with the total cost warranty and suite. This is a lot of money to spend for something to only last a year.
I bought a living room suit from Lazy boy . it was supposed to have a five year warrenty .After a year the living room suit started deteioring.they would not honor the warrenty. The purchase was made in 2013. The cost was7410.75. The cost of the furniture was so. much for it not to be .honored.
I purchased a Niagara leather reclining sofa and chair set in February 17 2016. From then until now, your customer service has been called to our home 4 times! There is a design flaw in this set! The wood has cracked underneath but it's just particle board, not real wood. The arms have been replaced, something else underneath the arms, screws, etc. We have no children here, just 2 adults. We don't mistreat furniture. We only got rid of our last leather sofa because it was bright red and would not match our new floors and new wall color; it was 12 years old and still in perfect condition but it was from The Leather Center, not La-Z-Boy. I have extended warranties on both items. I received a voicemail from Angel from 214-631-1813 today stating that the person that took pictures of the furniture Wednesday August 17, 2016 sent them to your corporate office and corporate only wants to order new parts. I don't want new parts or for this sofa to be fixed on, I want my money back! I don't trust this furniture! That's like buying a brand new car and within 6 months the car has been back to the shop 4 times! That's called a lemon and the dealership would be replacing that car! Well, I want my money back so I can purchase better furniture! I expected much more from your company. I thought you stood behind your product, I thought you respected your customers. I don't want to constantly to be reminded every time I look or sit on this furniture how horrible this experience is. I don't trust this product! I plan to post reviews all over the Internet and social media about my experience with your company. Order number 0217606KXOL Total amount paid $3450.94 paid by check.
La-Z-Boy built me a 3 piece ensemble that is pure JUNK!!!
I ordered this 3 seat ensemble (which has power footrest, power lumbar, and power headrest) in January 2015, but did not receive it until May 2015. Everyone at La-Z-Boy told me that this will be SO comfortable. LIARS!! They should change the name from La-Z-Boy to Madoff. Sitting in the seat I sit in was ok for the first 5 months, but then things went bad. My back and hips no longer had support and comfort. I did NOT have the pain and discomfort in my back, hips, and shoulders until this furniture started going bad. This 3 seat ensemble is JUNK because I now realized that I purchased brand new furniture but they used CHEAP and USED materials.
New springs do not make noise. The springs they installed on this furniture made noise from the very beginning, so you know that the springs were NOT new. It makes noise all the time when getting in and out of the seat. This furniture is also NOT sturdy. The seat that I sit in jerks when you raise the footrest. When lowering the footrest, it hits the wooden frame. I paid a lot of money to receive pain and discomfort in my back, hips, and shoulders and to hear wood hitting wood and used springs.
When I sit back on this furniture, my backside and hips touch the hardness of the wooden frame and it is VERY uncomfortable. The CHEAP cushioning has put my hips out of balance and I have pain when I get up and walk. Sitting on this has made my back and hips VERY sore and painful. I paid almost $5000 to sit on wood and to be VERY uncomfortable. The power lumbar is no longer supporting my lower back because I sit so low in the seat, that it is now in the middle of my back and that is NOT where it is suppose to be.
In January 2016, a young man from La-Z-Boy came out to assess my complaints about the ensemble. He had me sit in the seat while he was standing up and holding the remote. He kept dropping the remote, which would hit my tile floor. The remote is now chipped. He laughed everytime he dropped the remote. He had a total disregard for someone else's property. No apologies for chipping the remote. He did tell me that La-Z-Boy will replace the cushioning with better cushioning. One of my complaints is, why didn't La-Z-Boy install premium cushioning on this $5000 piece of furniture instead of installing CHEAP cushioning? This company thought that they could get away with ripping me off!! Before this ensemble, I had been sitting on a $1500 piece of furniture that was SO much more comfortable and quiet!!
In closing, I would suggest buying furniture from any place other then La-Z-Boy. I will NEVER buy furniture from La-Z-Boy again!
Approximately a year and a half ago I purchased two electric recliners and one electric recliner couch from La-Z-Boy at 1433 W. Bay Area Blvd, Webster, TX. I also purchased the extended warranty on all three items.
On September 24, 2015 I called the store to report that my recliner was no longer working correctly. The associate verified that I had purchased the extended warranty. She then gave me another phone number to call for service. I called the number given and left a complete message as instructed by the automatic response.
On September 25, 2015, I was called by Portia from the Service Center. I gave her the details of the problem with my recliner. She told me that the Scheduling Department would call me within 24hrs to schedule service.
On September 29, 2015, not having received a scheduling call, I again called Portia at the Service Center and had to leave a message. My message explained that I had not yet been scheduled for service.
On September 30, 2015, Portia returned my call from the previous day. I again explained that I initiated my calls on September 24th and had not yet been scheduled for service. She told me that their records showed that I had been called but had not answered the phone. I verified that she had the correct number, which she should have since she called me but you never know what is actually written in the record. I told her that the number was to my cell phone that I have with me at all times, that I have voice mail and that I had not received one call from anyone connected with La-Z-Boy. She told me that their records showed that I had been called. She gave me another phone number to call. I asked if I would be talking to a live person and not a recording and she said that I would be.
I immediately called the number that Portia gave me and spoke with Gladys who, like Portia, claimed that I had been called but the phone just rang and rang. I told that I had voice mail but, no matter, I wanted to be scheduled for repairs to my couch. The earliest day available was October 13, 2015, THREE weeks after my first call!
The only thing I can say is that after purchasing three expensive pieces of furniture and extended warranties from La-Z-Boy, after a week of waiting to get scheduled for repair, and then having to wait an additional two weeks before someone could even check my couch, I will NOT be purchasing another single item from La-Z-Boy. Also, if I have to wait that long for service, there must be A LOT of breaking La-Z-Boy furniture.
It remains to be seen if the repair crew shows up on October 13th. I am supposed to get a call a day or two before when the time will be approximated as to when to expect them. I’m not holding my breath for a phone call.
