Oneal Power Recliner W/Pwr Hdrst Cover ID: MIDNIGHT - B157886
Protection plan added For 2,000.00 and because it was the Lay-Z-Boy Brand I incorrectly assumed it would be of High Quality, I could not have been more mistaken!!! The Frame Was Mode using "Gypsum Board" Anyone with half A brain should know that Gypsum Board is not Made for Strength! The Piston that is responsible for the Power Recliner to {recline} was connected to a big piece of black plastic,
Why would a big company like "Lay-z-Boy" use {PLASTIC} to connect the metal hydraulic piston to the footrest? This should have been metal as well, as it broke 1 time not long after we got it, but they did replace that part, after constantly calling them, however the first time they had the parts sent it was the wrong part, then when we did get the right part, it took the repair guy weeks to get here, no offense to the man that came but he looked like he was over 80 years old. The remote has broken twice, the first time they said that the part was not covered by warranty, My wife and I argued that it was useless without it, and they wanted over 300.00 for that part alone, they were informed that we were never told the lifetime warranty did not cover the remote, and they said well they had no one to install it, I informed them that I being a Computer Technician could install it myself, so we did get them to send a replacement via mail. But the remote stopped working after about 6 months or so a 2nd time, due to them using very VERY thin wires and a thin cable covering, the very thin wiring breaks because they are just too thin to take repeated use, and they would not send us a 2nd replacement, so for over a year my recliner does not recline, nor can I use the lumbar support, or adjustable headrest, in fact, the {Adjustable Head Rest} stopped working first, we told the repair guy about that he said he would order the parts but we never did get that replacement. I had to buy a used ottoman to rest my feet after the remote broke a 2nd time. And Finally the {Rocker Base} "Detached" from the Frame! and the very weak and cheap gypsum Board Frame Broke in two! So the 2000.00 Recliner is barely usable! Lay-Z-Boy informed us long ago that they would not service are recliner, when asked why they would not support fixing or replacing the recliner, they said it was not covered in the warranty! I explained to them that we bought the Lifetime Warranty And that No exceptions were explained to us when we purchased the Recliner, I was informed I should have Read the full warranty. It's not like this was some fly-by-night furniture place! It was Lay-z-boy! One would think that a Big Furniture company like Lay-Z-Boy would not be making cheap poorly designed furniture, especially when they are charging 2000.00 Big ones! And this is not just limited to Charleston SC, Not long after our Recliner problems started a friend of mine in North Carolina "Lima Smith" had similar issues with a new Recliner he bought from the Loco Lay-Z-Boy! So as anyone that reads this now knows, "LAY-Z-Boy" has turned into a LAZY, Cheap a*s, Ripoff company! It is unworthy of your Time & most of all your hard-earned Money!
I could go on at length but to the point: la-z-boy first agreed to repair or replace a defective rocker - tipping hazard & poor seat construction - then they had a representative call and leave a message that rescinded that offer. This after they had me go to great lengths to turn the chair over and get all the data.
I didn't mind when i thought we were having a mutually agreeable and constructive dialogue. They acknowledge it's still under warranty, they just can't be bothered. Below is the message i sent them re: their cancelling a service call after having made the appointment.
I never did hear back but a quick search of the web indicates this is pretty common. If you worked in customer service would you ignore the following email? Caveat emptor. See below).
Good morning.
Recently i was in touch re: the problem described below. Shortly after i was contacted by a la-z-boy representative. Who researched the problem, noted i was still under warranty, and she set up an appointment for june 22nd. All was well and indicative of the fine practice i've come to know from la-z-boy over the years.
Then, however, i received a call telling me la-z-boy thought i may have purchased it at wayside and that i should seek remedy there. She then added that she was canceling my appointment. From the tone and tenor the woman sounded to have come from la-z-boy hq. The end result is i that i am receiving neither comfort nor care - i'm not yelling the caps are merely for emphasis. Simply put your company is engaging in bad business.
Please put me back on the schedule for a service call and call/write to confirm. If you do not i will have to share my story on scamion. Bad kitty, and all the rest of the consumer complaint sites of which there are many. Consumers will think twice when they find the shaky manner in which lazy-boy handles its warranty claims. In the economy, as it currently stands, i would hate to relay my story to the many thousands of readers who turn to these consumer review sites for guidance.
Please remedy reschedule my service call and contact me a.S.A.P
In November 2016 I purchased $8,416.36 worth of Furniture from La-Z-Boy furniture in Florence, Kentucky for my aunt. The furniture we saw at the store was very nice looking but what was delivered was nothing like what was shown on the showroom floor. We tried time and again to get La-Z-Boy furniture to deliver furniture that looked like what was on the showroom floor. They replaced the furniture several different times and each set was worse than the last. After seventeen months we still did not have furniture that looked any better than what you see in a bargain basement furniture store.
We gave up on La-Z-Boy ever producing furniture that looked anything like they have in their showroom. La-Z-Boy agreed to pick up their furniture and refund the purchase price. We were promised that the refund would be made within two weeks. They picked up the furniture on 04/14/2018. I called today (ten days after they picked up the furniture) and spoke with Justin (the current manager of the Florence La-Z-Boy furniture). He informed me that La-Z-Boy still has not processed the return of the furniture. Not only did La-Z-Boy mislead us and promise to deliver furniture of like-kind and quality as what they had in their showrooms, but even after they took their unacceptable furniture they are needlessly delaying refunding our money.
Originally, we went to La-Z-Boy because they had a reputation of providing quality goods. People expected to pay more for La-Z-Boy furniture because they knew they were getting quality furniture for their money. Unfortunately, based on several sets of furniture, each worse than the last, La-Z-Boy now resorts to keeping people’s money by delaying the refund. They did not delay charging the credit card when I purchased the furniture. I would never recommend that anyone ever waste their money in a La-Z-Boy store. If your experience is half as bad as what ours was, you will regret ever giving them a dime.
