La auto transmissions inc. - car dealers sold me a 1997 chevy astro van with a cracked block. The car was overheating when i test drove it. David said: " if i can fix the van would you still be interested in it?" i agreed and he replaced some thermostat and sold me the van. When i arrived back he was filling the rediator with water, and i noticed brown stuff flowing out with the water.
He told me that he had just recently refinished the heads, and was removing excess oil from the radiator. I don't know if that was true because two weeks later i returned with the van, it was overheating and the radiator was full of oil. David said that they must not have resurfaced the heads properly and took the van in for two weeks. He claims to have resurfaced the heads again, and talked me into replacing the radiator, hoses and spark plugs, and charged me an additional $340.00. Two weeks later i was back with the van with oil in the new radiator, and i had to replace the starter to get the car in. The car stalled in the middle of the road, and i had to pay a mobile mechanic $320.00 to put in the starter.
David takes the car back in for another two weeks saying that he is going to replace the engine. He waited until i replaced the stolen registration tag, before informing me that he did not replace the engine, supposedly tried some other fix, and that he would give me my money back.
Well. I paid $325.00 for the registration, $340.00 for his additional repair, $320.00 for a starter/mobile installed, $70.00 for towing, $40.00 for two uber rides and at least $30.00 in gas back and forth to his shop ten times. I have a second car, but the van was for my business. I used it maybe five times to get my merchandise to a swap meet over a six week period. So i lost at least the cost of the van $1,500.00 in lost income. David catalan never even offered me a loaner van or made any gesture towards helping me with my mounting loss.
Instead he forced me to accept a raw deal of just the money back i paid for the van. I did take the money, short of involving the police or worse. David catalan pointed to a large chunk of wood on the ground, used to keep cars from rolling, when tried to negociate for more. He said: "watch your step" but i knew what he was saying. David catalan threatened me with violence over this dispute and he caused me to suffer significant loss. $1095.00 to be exact, plus lost revenue from my business.
I asked for my money back after i brought the car back in the first time. He chose to repair the heads on a car a cracked engine block a second time. He should have had the engine pressure tested before he resurfaced the heads in the first place and sold me a defective vehicle. What is he running over there, a mechanic school for undocumented workers?
The behavior and treatment i received from this unprofessional businss operator, reflects poorly on all the affiliates sharing the same address and common areas, and in many cases customers. So, i have named you all in this Yscam.
David catalan and his two brothers had opportunity to resolve this more favorably. They chose rip me off. They operate three businesses out of their space, a repair shop, a car audio and tint shop and a used car store. They are also a dmv.com affiliate with most of the other business at the gaffey address. Dmv.com is a help you sell your car, online business, not affiliated with the dmv. I believe that david catalan is operating the used car store is illegally. Three brothers can sell 15 cars per year and not register with the dmv as a dealer: and problematiic registrations, as mine was, can be passed on to the customer, which they did.
So what you have here is an illegal used car dealership hiding behind a transmission/auto repair shop and tinting and stereo shop. La auto transmissions inc. - car dealers, as one of their online posts reads, is a fraud and a scam. They take unfair advantage of the car buying public and use their affilation with other similar businesses, in their compound, to rip off the public. San pedro chrysler specialists is a car dealership, and does over 2 million dollars per year in sales. So this place on gaffey is a beehive of activity, and david catalan and his brothers trade on that, to the detriment of the public.
There is no threat of loss of losing their dmv dealer credential, because this fraud, scam used car dealer doesen't have dmv permission to sell vehicles, even though they have 20 or more "buckets" strewn about the lot and under a nearby bridge etc.
David chose his victim well, in one sense, because it would take a hell of a lot more than a $2,500.00 loss to kick his scrawny little a*s. You and yours are getting this yscam because your crossed the line of what is reasonable and you lied and disrespected me, in addition to causing me finacial loss and grief and stress. In all seriousness david catalan i think you need to get your head examined. And so does everyone else named in this report who is associated with david catalan and la auto transmissions inc. Aka used car dealers of san pedro - a scam. You are crazy not to call this nut case out on his b*******!
You are and i repeat:
Used car dealers of san pedro - miguel catalan
Car audio and stereo doctor - oso catalan
South bay automotive - julio cantaneda
San pedro automotive - richard castro & mike walker
Butches auto & truck repair - rami najjarin
Mandos upholstery - armando gonzalez
San pedro chrysler specialist - christopher j. Micek
Speedy smog - ll y park
Harbor glass & mirror - occupant
There are too many broken down cars all over this lot, too much bravado and too much bullshit. I say take your business elsewhere. These guys have gotten much too cozy and things are going to start jumping off over there. It was all i could to not to respond in an unprofessional way. I did threaten to call the police. Why?
I also believe that david catalan does parts harvesting off the vehicles he services. He had two astro vans on the lot and the time and another shop had a gmc safari - same car. He seems to be more in the scrap metal business than anything else. He sells you a junk car and has you buy new parts, that he will later harvest, then he scraps out the vehicle. And in my case has you pay the dmv fees, guess you can't even junk a car that's not in your own name... Real scam!
David catalan and your affiliates you screwed me over royally. I thought it only right to pay you back in kind. One other thing worth mentioning. One of the shops is veteran owned, and i support our veterans, however i do not support a veteran who has "f*** the aclu" painted on his service vehicle. I say the same to you mike walker owner of san pedro automotive.
