Kuni Lexus of Greenwood Village Reviews

  • Jul 27, 2018

Kuni Lexus, where shall I begin? Initially, I went to this dealership to lease the 2018 Lexus GX460. The receptionist located a sales associate who conveyed to me the specs of the 2018 Lexus GX460. I requested to see the vehicle and was taken to their inventory garage to view the vehicle. I asked the sales associate about the invoice price and the incentives. Instead, she stated the net price on the sticker was the set in stone price and they do not haggle.

Come on! Only the extremely naive or mentally challenged would believe without analyzing the numbers. There were no posted advertisement to say “no haggling”. In addition, it was a battle to get Kuni to recognize my military service without scrutiny, even after presenting my official military retiree ID card. Later, the sales manager told me the same statement he trained the sales associate to convey to me, which did not inspire or enhance my decision to say, “OK guys, I guess you are correct and let’s move forward to make a deal at whatever rate seems best because you totally care about the fairness of every customer setting your prices “in stone?” Even Stevie Wonder can see that this pre-leasing experience with Kuni Lexus was bad news.

I proceeded to ask the sales manager the invoice of the vehicle and unsurprisingly, yet [as trained] he avoided my question with another question asking “how long did it take you to close your initial deal with another dealership.” yet bragging about how fast he closes the deals [snapping his fingers]. Last, he simply said this is what Kuni Lexus have to offer [aka. presented monthly payments/down payments]; take it or leave it!” I left upon retrieving my umbrella from their holding bin after seeing this dealership as just another “fancy automotive vending machine”.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend anyone to buy a car from this dealership or any other dealership where prices are set “in stone” without enough room for negotiation when shopping to buy or lease a vehicle. A car is the 2nd most expensive investment in your life compared to a house. Research and shop wisely. Remember, you do not have to buy a vehicle from Kuni Lexus or any other limited deal dealership if you feel pressured or mislead. Walking out is not a bad thing because you are the boss NOT the dealership. You control the deal NOT the dealership. As a result, you would avoid any type of bait and switch tactics. There are many dealerships around the US who would love to have your business - excluding the incentives and rebates, dealerships have the power to sculpt any type of deal. Dealers buy the inventory and legally Lexus remains transparent to dealers' financial deals with customers.

Surprising, you do not have to leave Colorado to do business with out-of-state dealerships. Do your research. Kuni Lexus may adapt their business practices after reading this post. Educate yourself with legal counsel [aka. Attorney]- before doing business with dealerships and/or hire an auto broker to deal for you. After going to safercar.gov (NHTSA), I discovered the 2018 Lexus GX460 did not have a government rated, crash test rating which presents a red flag for any household regardless of the fancy technology the manufacturer includes. Kuni of Lexus will try to deny the no rating of the Lexus GX460 by saying " I do want to make sure that you revisit the ratings, as the NHTSA has highly rated Lexus vehicles. Safety is extremely important in the design and technology of Lexus vehicles."

This discovery caused me to seek leasing a Tesla S for the city commute and Toyota 4Runner SRS for the mountains. Both have decent crash ratings. Overall, Toyota is a good company. Nevertheless, I learned to appreciate the evolution of proven technology and positive crash rating Telsa has to offer. It is too bad the independent dealers like Kuni Lexus make the purchase experience difficult and questionable leading to 2nd guessing to purchase another brand. I believe everything in life happens for a reason. Lexus is not for me nor my family. Thanks Kuni for the big-bang experience!

MY SUGGESTION: get with an auto broker to negotiate for you; get the VIN# from the car and pay to discover the actual invoice (aka. Price the dealer paid for the vehicle). The invoice is always minus the MSRP times a set percentage (aka. 6%).
