Today, at 9:31am EST, my wife and I visited the Krispy Kreme Doughnut facility, located at 810 Cassat Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32205, to purchase (1) dozen glazed doughnuts with a $9.99 coupon.
I gave the coupon and $20 to the order taker, listed as Lession, and received my receipt and change of $0.01. Before I could say anything, the order taker had swiftly closed the window and gone to get my order. When she came back to the window with the doughnut order, I explained to her that I had given her a $20 bill, as I did not have a $10 bill in my wallet.
She said that I had given her a $10 bill and that they mark all $20 bills, so she was sure that she had not made a mistake. She was adamant about her assertion that she had not gotten a $20 bill from me.
I drove off, upset, assuming that I was just one more victim of theft by this individual. Then, I stopped and realized that I needed to pursue it a bit further.
I returned to the store a couple of minutes later and requested to speak with the manager. When the manager came to the front, I explained the issue to her. I asked her to review the cashier’s window security camera to clear this up. She said that she had already reviewed the video and that I had given the order taker a $10 bill.
I then asked to see the security camera video. I am sure that I gave the order taker a $20 bill for the $9.99 order, as I had no $10 bills in my wallet at the time of placing the order. The sales receipt for my purchase is attached for your information.
The manager stated that she had already reviewed the video and that I had indeed given a $10 bill for payment of the order. I again asked to see the video camera evidence, and, she refused to let me see it. This was a prime indication that the manager was covering the theft of my $10 change by the employee. If it was indeed my mistake, I would have apologized and left the store embarrassed by my mistake, however, that was quite clearly not the case.
Why would the manager state that she had already reviewed the video, when the issue was not brought to her attention until the first contact with her?
Such refusal to verify the facts in such an issue on the part of the Krispy Kreme manager should be cause for alarm at Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation.
I would like to know what is going to be done to remedy this situation. I would like to review the security video from the cashier’s window.
