Knights Inn Martinsburg Reviews
My daughter and her two babies are staying at a hotel on a weekly rate while in between houses. The Knights Inn in Martinsburg had the best weekly rate ($390) so that is where she is staying. We paid last week but then it was time to renew for another week.
On Saturday, 4th, my daughter went to the clerk to pay the $390 when the clerk said that they were not "allowed" to take the payment for the weekly rate customers. It had to be taken directly by a manager. Because the manager was not available, they required that she pay for just the one night at a much higher rate than we were given. They further stated that when the manager came in the next day, he would adjust the higher rate one night to reflect in her weekly payment for this week.
The following day, manager still was not available. She was instructed to pay for another single night at a higher rate, again indicating that the following day the manager would adjust her weekly bill, deducting the monies she had to pay in his absence.
The manager finally came in and REFUSED TO ADJUST HER RATE. I even called to complain and the manager said the clerk may have made a mistake or we misheard the conversation. No one "misheard" anything at all. What the clerk SHOULD have said is that they cannot take a weekly payment so she is required to pay the full-rate until such time as a manager comes to work.
Further they should have stated specifically that the manager would not go back and deduct the two nights from the weekly rate. This way she had a choice of paying the higher rate or simply going to the next hotel with the next lowest weekly rate. That is what we would have done for sure had we not been lied to by the hotel.
It is inconceivable that this huge mistake was made which ended up costing my daughter and additional $130 due to their mistake, was not corrected to reflect what the customer was told. Instead, the manager told me that instead of paying the nightly high rate, she could have stayed elsewhere! We most certainly would have stayed elsewhere had we known we were about to be ripped off because the clerk told us that the rate would be adjusted. It is truly unbelievable that it was confirmed that is what the clerk told us but the manager STILL refuses to do what was promised by the hotel.
Essentially when this hotel staff makes a mistake is can and did result in the customer having to pay an additional $130 over the agreed rate. This has to be illegal.
