Keyspire, formally known as Lifetime Wealth Academy, in Cambridge, ON. I had to create an account using 'Alabama' as the website would not let me choose Ontario. Currently, the company is serving all of Canada with dreams to expand to other countries.

Sadly, Keyspire is a complete scam. I actually worked for the company and was a customer, so I am very aware of the inner-workings and how they treat customers and employees. I was one of the many people unethically fired, bullied into signing contracts without having enough time to contact a lawyer, as I was escorted off the property.

The company is built on inviting people to a free event (using a celebrity, so far using Scott McGillivray as a draw), then selling them a workshop for $1000 to learn more about investing, and then at the workshop selling a horribly expensive membership that includes some terrible software, very poor real estate 'coaching' that includes a roaster of people who have maybe bought a property or two and are NOT what you are thinking of when you think real estate investing coach (I would say maybe two coaches have some merit), invite to a couple events, some website info (all of the information of which is found on Google, and where most of it came in the first place), and a connection to a network of other real estate investors. All for just tens of thousands of dollars..

I think the company started off with okay intentions, or so it seemed, but very quickly grew into a money grabbing scheme that was all about offering as little as possible to customers and getting as many customers to sign up for the highest price. Awful and sad sales tactics are used, I can recall many very elderly people being pushed into unaffordable real estate memberships, or young naive couples taking out lines of credits they'll never pay off, to pay Keyspire and not letting people out of the program if it wasn't for them. (They only allow 10 days refund for a $15K - $25K product, and members aren't able to experience 99% of the program until they are out of the refund time.)

The tone of the company switched when Merilee Wright was hired (unemployed at the time), she swiftly began firing those she didn't like and replacing them with friends of hers. So many incredible employees who built the company were forced out because they knew too much about the early history of the company (which took part in quite a few unethical things and the entire company was actually started as a place to file all of the complains the founders Michael Sarracini and Scott McGillivray were getting) and were horribly bullied by her. One employee was off work with suicidal thoughts due to the stress at work, others getting sick to their stomach when she was around, and MANY more have quit. The company has such a high turnover rate it is laughable. She is known company wide for firing those who don't kiss her a**. She ensures employees make the absolute minimum the industry standard would allow, while she has continued to pad her salary into the hundreds of thousands, despite her complete lack of qualifications. She only cares about sales numbers and training teams to sell more and more memberships, whether they can afford them or not. When she was hired, the staff begged the founders to reconsider due to the terrible treatment everyone was getting, however; Merilee must have information on the founders that she has been able to blackmail into getting what she wants.

There is another complaint filed on this website that I saw, and the other report is completely true. Completely! They simply write a BS response to it to try and save face.

I never though that I would be someone to leave a bad review for a company, and have never done so before. However; the way this company has treated customers and employees is so horrendous that I feel obligated to ensure potential new customers and employees have the full information.

If you speak to ANYONE who used to work for this company, you would be horrified at the story they have to tell you. Sadly, those who had to quit or were forced out, were also bullied into signing documents not allowing them to speak about the company at all. I was one of those people, so hopefully this site is true to being anonymous.

I could list countless times and stories this company has been completely unethical and ripped off customers and will do so if there is interest from people in hearing more about what has gone on. I'll also be sure to encourage other former employees to no longer be bullied and be honest in order to protect others.

Complete opposite experience.

I found this review online after doing some research on the company. I read it prior to attending the 3 day workshop. The company offers a full money back guarantee for their workshop so I figured I had nothing to lose.

I attended the three day workshop and found it to be very informative. I was actually quite surprised at how little they talked about the membership and I liked the fact that they didn't use any hard sales tactics. I was not a novice investor when I found Keyspire and I wondered if they would be able to deliver enough content that would satisfy me. In reality, they over-delivered and I learned some great techniques that I've been using to build my portfolio.

I went forward with membership and have easily recouped my membership fees with some of the exclusive offerings that became available to me inside of the membership base. I have also found many great joint venture partners within the Keyspire community who I continue to work with on a regular basis.

I have met many employees (former and current) and they all have had wonderful things to say about Keyspire. To me it sounds like the person who wrote this review above had a less than perfect relationship with some of the management at Keyspire or the whole thing is fabricated. There are a few facts that don't add up. For one, Keyspire is a Canadian company and they have never been in the US so I'm not sure why this person had to register using Alabama. Second, why would they have to register for anything if they were an employee and a "customer" of the company. Finally, some of the membership numbers that have been thrown out here are inaccurate which makes me believe that the individuals writing these reviews have not actually been to a Keyspire event. This could have very well been written by a competitor who is trying to tarnish the reputation of Keyspire for their own personal gain.

Keyspire is a real estate education organization. With any education it's about what you do with that knowledge that is the most powerful element. I have applied the knowledge that I've learned through Keyspire and it has brought me significant returns. My investment in my education was well worth it and I would do it all over again if I had the chance.

Stay away is my only advice. Keyspire will offer a free event, then a workshop with the goal of signing you up for a $25,000 membership. I overheard a conversation with a lady by the name of Merilee Wright who was talking on her phone to a friend talking about numbers and how her job depends on signing more of these idiots up, I didn't like what I heard. That's when the alarm bells went off for me. Luckily for me I only went to the free preview and got out when I could.

Contact HGTV

Very sad to hear all these negative reviews about Keyspire. I would advise people to contact HGTV with your complaints. Contacting Keyspire will be useless in a situation like this. HGTV need to know the dirty tactics that Scott McGillivray has been up to.

I was looking into Keyspire membership but have been turned off by reading these reviews.

Not a real scam...but close to it

Every negative experience you are reading online is real. What I found was that the people with money, who already have connections, really do well with Keyspire. At the follow up 90 Day Mastery meetings, you hear success stories...but always from the same 3 - 4 people. If you do not have extra disposable income, then you are best to stay away and keep your money.

I got fleeced by joining, and had nothing to show for my $20K loss. What really opened my eyes though, was when one of their "superstar" real estate agents was murdered in a posh downtown Toronto restaurant. I guess he eventually pissed off the wrong person.

Stay away, and no matter what positive reviews you read...DO NOT JOIN KEYSPIRE!!!

Very disappointing company

I paid for the workshop thinuking that it would teach me "all I need to know o get started" as touted in the free seminar by Scott. I'm very disappointed to say that after 3 days of intent listening I was left feeling confused and scared that if I didn't rush into buying the $15,000 membership that I would never make it on my own and would be left to go make all my own mistakes. It slowly hit me that I had just paid for a Keyspire infomercial and not an education that would "empower" me. I am frankly disgusted with Keyspire's tactics and not delivering on their promise to teach me how to get started. They are a scam because they don't deliver what they hype you up to believe they will.

Keyspire engages people to be involved with their membership base of over 1,000 real estate investors by becoming a member. It uses high pressure tactics to have you register as a member quickly after paying $1,000 to participate in their weekend training conference. The membership is about $15,000 with promises of support for coaching and access to their network of members and experts to build your real estate portfolio. The reality is, you learn simple tactics for evaluating real estate investment opportunities and access to a website with video learning modules and "so called coaching”, and introductions to qualified agents, broker group, accountants. But it really is not worth it for the magnitude of investment. The membership fee only covers you for about a year.

Access to coaching is so limited - really only about 3-4 sessions in reality because capacity is so large for them to keep up and sessions are only 30 minutes at a time. Their website is only available to you for that one year window. After that you have to pay another $1k+ renewal to access these resources. It really is a cash grab. You do benefit from some of the companies introduced to you and agents, but nothing you can’t find through other sources. I don’t recommend signing up but if you do, jointly sign up with someone else to help reduce your cost. The membership doesn’t make sense unless you have the credit or capital to do multiple investments of at least 5 or more properties, or the comfort level to partner on deals with strangers.

Also, if you don’t take advantage of the networking opportunity in the first year, you’ve pretty much loss the uptake you would have received from the membership as you lose access to tools such as the website which in today’s world of free access to information- content such as training videos should still be made available to individuals who have paid $15k in membership. In reality, the membership is worth more at the $5k price point but definitely not $15k. Scott and his partner sell you on their genuine interest to help clients, and while their company offers some help, their support is really quite finite and short term. In the end, it’s about the value you get for your investment, and having gone through the cycle, and knowing now what I know, I don’t think the value is there.

I am writing this from the 3 days forum

By the time you have reached this review, I am sure you have read a lot of reviews a and found out that this is not a total scam until the last day of the three days $1000 seminar !

I should say that I learnt a couple of good things but rushed through by the coach !

But the main concern of the 3 day “brain wash” sales way they use to sell their big fake promise of just an online forum with information that we could google or even YouTube and learn with out being that much !

Please don’t get me wrong I am actually writing this while I am in the middle of the third day seminar and I am keen of what I am saying.

Please don’t waste your money on the membership that is 15000$ please don’t it’s not worth it.

Oh and don’t believe those big titled caps lettered reviews fighting back and backing up Keyspire and how amazing it is and how it changed their lives :/

Go for their 3 days course but nothing more is needed!

Good luck :)

Like anything...it's what YOU make of it

Just finished up my second day of the 3 day seminar and I am not under any illusion that KeySpire and it's reps were going to make me wealthy. I got what I expected and hoped to get out of the 3 day seminar and more. For me this 3 day seminar was well worth the money even though it is what it is, a sales pitch to a system. I have read a lot of reviews, mostly negative, but I take them all with a grain of salt. I totally understand what it is they are doing and what the business model sort of looks like. Without knowing the full disclosure of what's behind the curtain, I'm sure there are some value added options that become available after you become a member. At the end of the day, they are selling a system or a "franchise opportunity". This is NOT MLM in any way or pyramid thing where you have to sign up people, blah blah, blah, that I can tell. Have they cracked the code? I don't think so. Have they reinvented the wheel? Are they offering anything that no one has ever seen before? NO! What they have done is packaged a system of tools, resources, live events and coaching for real estate investors. There is also access to exclusive deals and opportunities to network with all the people a real estate investor would need to be successful. Again, I can't speak to the quality of any of the member benefits, but feel that what KeySpire is doing is no different than any other business that finds a system that works for them. Many people buy a system in order to gain wealth and knowledge, be it McDonald's or whatever. You're buying a system, suppliers, technology and training. This is no different. At the end of the day your level of risk, expertise, willingness to learn, willingness to work at it, etc... depends 110% on you. The tendency to think that a McDonald's is a license to print money is a myth. It has to be worked at, like any business.

Fight to get refund

I don't live in a major city, and the 3 day workshops only tour in nearby cities about once a year. Because of my work/travel schedule, it has been impossible for me to attend a weekend event. When I purchased, I was guaranteed that I would be able to extend my one year limit until I could find a time that worked, in a city of my choosing.

It has been 2.5 years, no city/date has been able to match my calendar, so now I just want my money back.

The woman I am emailing with tells me that I can attend the next 3 day course, and if after the first day I am still unhappy, they will refund me. But she claims it is impossible to offer a refund otherwise.... that to me is illogical. And the more I have to argue to get my money back, the less inclined I am to go to an event, even just for the first day in order to say I went, was dissatisfied, ans now want my money returned.

I'm just getting started in my battle, but hopefully it is a brief one because I was made specific promises when I paid my 1,000 dollars and they have fallen short on their end so far...

Pyramid

This is a total sham and after the weekend of countless sales pitches and basic math I found this to be a total scam. I felt sorry for mother and son using credit card to buy in. when I asked if I could buy a used membership if someone looking to get out I was told that was not allowed. I felt that I could have bought another membership for about 1,000 dollars versus the 20,000. I am glad my poor friend bought the weekend and felt bad he had purchased the weekend.

Suggest you get a real education with the money.

Ponzi Scheme

Read the negative reviews and believe them. You have to ask yourself why they've raised the cost of membership from $15,000 to $19-35,000 --> my guess, is because this is a ponzi scheme and they need more money coming in to cover their asses. How can they be boasting year over year returns of 20-25% in this market. If it looks to good to be true - IT ALWAYS IS. Even when Paul Hecht tells you otherwise. Buyer beware.

Nothing but positive to say

I think, as with anything in life, you have to do your research and learn to understand that everything isn't for everyone. What my husband and I found was an amazing experience, amazing people we have been connected to, both members and the Keyspire organization. We never once felt pressured to join and were always supported by our coach in our first year and with any follow up connections with him and others since then. It is a huge expense, yes, but if you are willing to take the risk and be proactive about things, you will likely have success. We have been members for a year and a half and have made back our membership 10+ times over, using the systems and idea's shared with us and it gave us the confidence to move forward on deals we would never have understood before we got involved. You really do need to speak to members and ask them directly if they feel it has been worth it. Do I think it is a huge expense and perhaps over priced, yes. I can tell you though, that we would not be in the financial position we are today, if it were not for Keyspire and we are grateful to the organization.

LOVE KEYSPIRE

I'm proof that Keyspire changes lives. I am proof of that because I took the concepts I learned with Keyspire, put them to work and networked. Life isn't a free ride that someone does it all for you and Keyspire is specific that you have to do the work. I've made back my membership fee in less than a year. I now do real estate investing full time, that's right self employed. I'm sorry to hear the negative comments but could it be you just didn't take action and do the work? By the way I didn't join Keyspire with 5+ properties. I wish those who wrote negative comments well but I'm betting that you find fault with everything. All the Best!

If you live in the USA do not sign up for Keyspire. Currently, 90% of the content applies to Canadians, not US residents. I've wasted so much money it makes me sick signing up for this program. I've sat through countless labs and presentations only to find out either at the end or after the presentation, that whatever the offer is, it is only for Canadian residents.

They offer passive investment opportunities so you can make money investing in real estate. However, there are zero investment opportunities for US residents. This happens over and over again.

The membership included three days of an investor summit. It started each day at 6:30 am for PST as they are on the East Coast. 90% of the sessions offered Canadian programs. And they were sneaky about this. I sat through all the programs, set up appointments to learn more, and only at that time did I learn US residents were not allowed. I feel totally scammed.

The refund period is only 10 days as I've tried to get a refund. How would you know this program is such a waste if you can't see that the majority of the content is for Canadians.

After 6 months as a member for their most expensive plan, they sent a welcome gift. I want to throw it out I am so mad. Really - welcome now?

The iPad app that is supposed to provide great listing information doesn't work. I've reached out several times to get help and no answer.

They offer "great support" but I certainly have not received it. I have yet to get an answer to any email or a return phone call to any voicemail. Of course no one actually answers the phone. You can find better programs in the USA.
