Kevin Jewelers at Ontario Mills gave away a fully paid-for diamond bracelet valued at $1,100 USD that they were repairing. They gave the bracelet to a robber that broke into my home, stole my car and then committed identity theft in using the claim slip to steal the bracelet.
When I inquired about the item, the store informed me that it was claimed on Oct 26th. They also claimed that they do not have a policy of checking any ID before handing over items in their custody. When I asked if they could provide me evidence that the item was released to another individual to provide my insurance and detectives at the Montclair Police Department in the open investigation, the manager "Joe" refused to give me any information. He demanded a physical copy of the police report. Joe also refused to give me his last name, business card or the contact information of his supervisor.
Customer service has not acknowledged 3 written complaints or 3 voice mails. In fact the customer service line has never answered a call during normal advertise business hours. After extensive research I found a phone number for a manager, but when I called and got another employee, they refused to transfer me. They took down my info and never replied.
The loss of a gift for my mother-in-law, putting me out $1,100 is bad enough; but I am most concerned by this company's 100% lack of accountability and overt disregard for consumer complaints. Moreover, this irresponsible lack of policy to check legal identification promotes and rewards burglaries, snatch and grab theft and worse for anyone to profit off of theft.
I opened an account with Kevin Jewerly and I had been on time always to pay my account, on June of 2016 I made my last payment towards my balance because I always keep track of my credit debt, as I made my payment I knew that I had paid everything already, when I finish paying my last payment, I asked the manager if I had any balance left to pay and she said that with the payment I had made that day my account was paid in full. So I cut the credit card that same day, now 6 month later, I got a called saying my account was charged off!!
My credit suffered a lot because of the charge off! I told them I had paid everything nd they said I didn't but I did, and the manager of the store told me that yes my account was paid in full already!
We went in to buy gold earrings for our newborn baby girl. Asked for gold earrings, they showed us a set told us it was white gold. We purchased them. Three days after putting them on my baby's ears got infected. She had fever from infection. We went into the stores told them what was going on they could have cared less they showed us another pair in which they wanted another $70 for. It was upsetting to me that even after I told them my baby's ears were infected cause of the silver earrings they told us that we're gold, they did not care at all. Asked them for a corporate number they claimed not to have at the store; asked them for their full names and they told me they were not going to give them to me. Not only were they all rude an unprofessional, they also threatened to call security on me and all my family. we went back less than 30 days from the day of purchase and we could not get our money back. Kevin jewelers return policy is 30 days. What a disappointment.
I am so not happy. I was taken into the store by a friend who recommended this place. I had a gold ring I needed to sell. I personally wanted to go to London Coin Exchange because I trust that company. Anyway - I was offered $60 cash or $250 in store credit. My friend and myself made it quite clear to the Persian lady working there that we were having dire financial times - so if we were going to take $250 in store credit, than we expected the closest amount in whatever inventory they had for sale and value we could get for that. Anyway, the lady ends up finding us a piece of crap jewelry, valued at $99 in their store. She doesn't mention that it is only $99 in value and that you cannot return the item. The least she could have done was given us two of them or the matching bracelet - that would be nearly $200 and still a nice $50 store credit saved. We are assuming we have something close to $250 in jewelry, what a joke. I found the exact same item on eBay for $14! I was upset. I went back into the store and said you know what - just give me the $60 in cash and I don't want this 99 cent store jewelry. And they said - "OH NO REFUNDS - STORE CREDIT ONLY" and of course not store credit of the $250. Now just $99 which proceeded to lead to me a find even fewer choices of more items of cheap crap and no gold of course after they have my gold ring which I wish I had never taken there. So I end up walking out with a pair of Cubic Zirconia Sterling Silver earrings, nobody can even tell me how much actual sterling silver is in there. I looked those up online - yep, same ones, free shipping from China - $3.99. I know $60 (if that was even the real value) is not a huge amount of money, regardless who wants to get ripped off like that!
