My husband and I paid them $1500 to do a modification for us a few years ago. They never did anything for us as far as I can tell. They kept changing the attorney who was supposed to be working on our case and anytime we tried to move forward they would ask us to resend forms that had already been sent in. They were a huge waste of time and money! I wonder how many other people they riffped off. We can't be the only ones that paid them a retainer and never got services only taken advantage of.
I retained council from KEL Attorneys on Jan. 11, 2016 for a property dispute between me anad co-owner, Debbie Mazzochi.
I paid KEL a retainer fee of $950.00 which was debited from my bank account on the same daay, ( 01/11/2016). Since that time one Demand Letter was SUPPOSELY sent out by attorney, Trenton Leigh on January 26, 2016 as CERTIFY, RETURN, RECEIPT, which means it must be signed for before delivery.
In the meantime, I receice a letter from KEL, written on March 1, 2016, informing me that my, attorney Trenton Leigh has left the KEL firm and do I still wish for KEL to represent me. And I said yes and returned the form letter to them on 3/5/2016.
Also on March 5th, I spoke with a Crystal Joseph, para-legal, ( #813-386-6251 Extension #7323 ) and she turn the phone conversation over to a Mr. Garrett who said in order to pursue this case I would need to send the $2,500.00 more to begin ligagations. I asked if the "Demand Letterr" was sign for and he couldn't tell me . I ended the conversation and asked that this be investigated before anymore monies are sent.
On April 5,2016, I spoke with a Shakena Lester, para-legal, (#813-386-6251 Ext. #7323) and she informed me that Mr. Garrett has also left the firm and that she would have to read the physical file and would call me back the next day and advise me as to which attorney will be handling my case. Also I needed to know if the "Demand Letter", was actually sent out CERTIFIED, RETURN, RECEIPT. Because if Ms. Mazzoclhi did not sign for this letter than she is unaware that a suit is being filed against her, Shakena said she would look into this also.
I've emailed Ms. Lester twice since April 5th without any response.
To sum it all up : It has been Four months, three attorneys , two para-legals , three phone calls and two emails and NO REPRESENTATION.
I have lost all confidence in KEL Attorneys and would like my retainer of $950.00 refunded to me.
IN 2013 I CONTACTED KEL ATTORNEYS FOR THEIR HELP/ADVICE ON REFINANCING MY HOME. THEY ADVISED ME TO GO INTO FORECLOSURE AND FILE BANKRUPTCY. I NEVER MET WITH AN ATTORNEY, JUST A PARALEGAL. WHEN I WENT TO BANKRUPTCY COURT IN TAMPA MET WITH A TRUSTEE WHATEVER THAT IS AND HE ENDED UP SELLING MY HOME FOR 2500 TO A MANAGEMENT COMPANY ALSO HAD TO PAY TRUSTEE DIRECTLY 4000 FOR MY CAR. CAN'T BELIEVE THAT ANY OF THIS IS REALLY LEGAL.
