This review is regarding the experience my fiance had taking the August LSAT in-classroom course. He originally took the LSAT in June 2018 after self-study, and decided to retake the LSAT in September after purchasing the in-person Kaplan LSAT prep course.
His experience with Kaplan was awful from the beginning. Without consultation with the paid attendees (and only a week's notice), Kaplan started the course two weeks earlier than the scheduled dates, and altered the schedule further by eliminating weekend course days. This caused my fiance and several others who had already paid for vacation/had work commitments to frantically rearrange their schedules to accommodate.
After attending every Kaplan class as scheduled and completing every assignment, my fiance retook the LSAT course, and received a score 3 points lower than his previous LSAT score. Kaplan's credibility is based on their "Higher Score Guarantee" (as outlined on the main page of their website). As my fiance did NOT receive a higher score after completing his Kaplan in-person course, and completed every single assignment as was required by the in-person instructor, he asked Kaplan for the "guaranteed" refund of the $1,224 course charge.
After multiple attempts to contact Kaplan and receive this refund, including multiple email correspondence and a half-hour telephone call with Kaplan representatives, providing proof of his lower LSAT score and email corroboration from his Kaplan course instructor in his class attendance, they have still refused to refund him the $1,224.
We have already reported Kaplan's actions and refusal to refund our money to the Better Business Bureau as misrepresenting terms and policies. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY paying for a Kaplan course, as their "money-back guarantee" is completely FALSE!!! All we wanted was for them to comply with their "Higher Score Guarantee" and refund us the amount of the course we paid for, as guaranteed by their website.
I am a single mother of 3 boys. I was hoping to make a better life for my children by getting my associates degree. When I could not get a job with that, I contacted the college for job assistance. They manipulated the facts, and said that in order to get a job, I would have to get my bachelor's degree. Like a dummy, I did. Now, I am jobless, and have over $80,000.00 in student loans that I can't pay, because I still can't find a job. These people are the biggest scam artists I ever seen. Complete frauds, and should be shut down, and punished to the maximum limit. They should be required to reimburse all monies paid, plus, pay a chunk for emotional distress.
I contacted Kaplan sometime in May to improve my daughter's SAT math results. Although her official score wasn't too bad ( 520) we intened to increase it up to 600 with the individual tutor and summer long program. Bobby Woods ( the sales person) obviously promised everything and anyting with no guarantee. I agreed to pay $1850 fee for 14 hrs, program with an individual tutor for math only. We were assigned a person who seems to be bright however with background and experience very distanced from math and/or teaching. I encourage myself to trust the people assuming they know what they are doing or so I was told. Everything seems fine to begin with, the books were sent , the tutor was showing on time. The initial score was lower than offical one ( 450?) but it didn't concern me since I was promised 600.
Time went by and I was checking the score progress half way through, to my surprise the score didn't go very far:540, however both the new sales person and tutor assured me it will improve. Their point of argument was not the officail score 520 but their initial one ( 450) Later I learned that companies like this provide the initial test with harder questions that lowers the initial score to make them look better in the future. More lessons and more money spent, the test score never went above 540. Excuses used were my daughters abilities ( honor student in Fairfield county,CT school?) to learn.
I think the program is uncessful and fails to satisfy its purpose, my biggest disappoinement is wasted time and money and insignificant result, I could use the same money to hire a professional math tutor that can be held responsible.
Kaplan doens't guarantee anything unless they charge you few thousands and even after that they will fight with you.
I encourage everybody never to use Kaplan and spend your money somewhere else!
While attending school on line at Kaplan University at Davenport Iowa I got student aid every year and loans. Financial aid miss led me concerning enough loan money to finish school, I only needed 3 semsters to go to graduate with my bachelors in gerontolgy they rip me off big time..
