My name is Joao Gustavo Santos Rezende, I am 32 years old, Brazilian, Economist and accountant and I currently live in Belo Horizonte/MG in Brazil.
I was supposed to stay at JW Marriot Miami for a business even in the first week of March 2020. Given the COVID-19 scenario, that business trip was cancelled, and I was never able to go to Miami since than for either business or leisure. As I had done in many other stays across different Marriot hotels in the past, I had bought several personal items for my marriage and sent these packages to the hotel. As Marriot always does, they were kept in my name until I supposedly arrive at the hotel and pick them up. Since my travel was cancelled, I started arrangements with the JW Marriot staff to keep these packages for me until travel bans were lifted. I spoke with many employees there and one person, Miguel Quintero, confirmed me that they could be keep for a year. Months passed I called the hotel and they started to roll me pointing the situation to different directions. I would call and one person would confirm me that the packagers were still there, I would open a case with the service team, and they would team me that there has never been a record that these packages were there. Long story short, 1.5 years after this situation, the hotel has confirmed that they donated all these packages without my consent in a context that I was acting under the confirmation that packages would be kept until I could go to US – important to mention that Brazilians are still not aloud to go to US given the current COVID scenario. If they could let me know that these packages would be donated, I would obviously reach out to many work colleagues, family members and friends I have in Miami to keep them for me.
These packages (around 15) are work USD 3 thousand dollars apart from the issue that most of these items are needed in my upcoming marriage in Oct.2021. I need Marriott to at least give my money back.
