I occasionally purchase tickets online to events. On April 3 at 10am I attempted to purchase tickets from Ticketmaster. I was attempting to purchase tickets for an event at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Ticketmaster had VIP tickets on sale starting at $795. It was for a concert called The Classic West. The reason why I wanted VIP tickets is because with the VIP tickets they offered the following additional items:
CLASSIC PREMIER SEAT 2-DAY TICKET PACKAGE:
- One reserved premium ticket in lower bowl (see map for exact location, distributed day of
show)
- Exclusive VIP Gift bag, including specially designed Classic merchandise
- One specially designed Classic lithograph (limited/numbered)
- One commemorative Classic VIP laminate & lanyard
- One commemorative Classic VIP ticket
- On-Site VIP Check-In
Ticketmaster was not selling the tickets at 10am and I was concerned I may miss the opportunity to purchase tickets ahead of general admission. So I kept going through Google and typing American Express Pre-Sale. Somewhere in the process landed me on your jumbotickets website. You had tickets advertising VIP and selling those tickets for $735 with a service fee of $235.20 each. It seemed a little high however I wanted the VIP experience so I purchased the tickets.
After several hours I confirmed with my girlfriend that the tickets I purchased were not the VIP tickets I thought I bought. Then I contacted your customer service department and spoke to Brian G. who stated that the VIP mentioned is the section in the Dodger Stadium and not the VIP tickets package that I thought I purchased. I told him that was a misrepresentation of those tickets and requested a refund. After he refused I asked to speak to a manager. I was unable to speak directly to the manager (Rob C.).
Speaking through Brian G. I echoed my position. I was told that Rob G. would either contact me via a telephone call or email later on in the week. Despite the VIP tickets evaporating I kept waiting in the hopes that I would be contacted to resolve the matter. Finally on Friday April 7 with the remaining tickets being open to the General Public I finally called in mid afternoon Pacific Standard Time. Asked to speak to Rob C. who had not arrived for his shift yet. The lady who I spoke to I explained my plight and promptly hung up on me.
Rob C. never contacted me via email or telephone.
Now I sit here at 9:00pm on Friday April 7 with tickets that retailed for Ticketmaster at $495 plus an $80 service charge. The VIP tickets I wanted cost $795 plus $80 service fee. I missed out on the VIP experience and paid an incredible premium for mid level seats.
I am asking for your assistance to stand by your company and assist in a resolution to this matter.
I am looking for the VIP experience. I ask that your company stand by the promise to provide VIP tickets since it wasn’t clear that your weren’t providing VIP tickets. And the price points were close.
At this point a refund will not work as there is no way for me to purchase the tickets I wanted since they are sold out of those tickets. This occurred because I kept waiting for Rob C to contact me.
Jumbo Tickets are not only over priced (compared to Ticketmaster it was 3 times the cost) but they misrepresented their tickets. They said it was VIP tickets but for the concert I selected they were not. When I contacted their customer service I was left with a rude customer representative who would not provide their manager but was promised he would contact me by the end of the week which never happened. Save your money and this extremely bad experience and go to Ticketmaster or Stub Hub.
