This lady, Julia McDaniels, offered housing for the homeless, including the elderly and disabled in a brand new apartment building, Calligraphy Urban Residences, in Brea, California. Her organization was called National Lakewood Housing Coalition. It's very difficult to find quality housing for the homeless especially when they are on a fixed income, so this looked like a great opportunity!
Many tenants were accepted as the apartment community had a "first two months free" deal running. McDaniels was also living there as the Program Manager. The new tenants paid McDaniels the application fees and rent and moved in. In two months, eviction notices appeared on the new tenants' doors.
The apartment managers went to visit McDaniels. Turns out the apartments were leased by a Trina Martin who McDaniels said was her boss under Corporate Leases from Saddleback Church. The apartment managers asked who paid McDaniels and she said she was paid by Good Samaritan Housing in money orders.
The apartment managers left. They called Saddleback Church who said they had never heard of a Trina Martin and don't do Corporate Leases. The apartment managers went to Julia McDaniels apartment the next day and she and all of her things were gone! All the money those tenants paid was gone also! Where were these elderly and disabled tenants going to go? One just had major surgery!
If you work for any homeless shelters be aware that this short, black lady with long hair is taking advantage of the needy!
