I recieved a phone call recording from Johnson county special utility district (JSUD) on November 14 at 6:04pm stating I had a above normal water bill and I sould check for leaks. I did immediately, I checked all around my house all in my front and back yard under my house there was no leaks and no water standing. The next morning I called JSUD and I told the lady that answer the phone that I had no leaks. That is when she proceeded to tell me that my bill was $880 and I used 132,000 gallons of water. Then she told me to go look at my meter to see if the dials was spinning and I already done that and the meter wasn't running when our water was not on I told her. She said I needed to watch it for 15 minutes so I went back out and did that and I everyone in my house do not turn on the water for 15 minutes so I can check for leaks and for 15 minutes the dial of a meter did not spin which told me there was no leaks then I told my mother to turn on the water and when she did the dial spinned on the meter and when she turn the water off it stopped and I recorded it on my phone. I called Jsud back then I got questions like do you water your yard are garden, do you have live stock, how many people live in your home, did you leave the water hose on all night, do you have leaky toilets? I told her lady your talking 132000 gallons of water so my answer is I do not live on the Botanical Gardens, I own one dog and two cats, I have five adult and one child living in my house for the last 2 years no change in that. No I did not leave the water hose on all night and I do not have leaky toilets and if I did that doesn't answer to 132000 gallons of water! She then said she would send somebody out to look at the meter several days later I got a call saying that they check the meter and there's nothing wrong with it and she is sorry but we have to pay the bill. I then called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and had a plumber come out and look he said he saw no evidence of any leaks and he said 132000 gallons of water if we did have a leak our place in the neighbors would be flooded he said it has to be the meter! He put that in his report. I also found out if air goes through the meter it can make the meter go Haywire as if water was rushing through. That month in October we did have air in our lines we could hear it when we ran our water and when we flush the toilets, for about 15 days then stopped. I took the paper work the plummer gave me to JSUD and spoke to a Josh Howard and he even thought that much water was weird. He told me not to worry with the bill at this time that he would send someone out to look at the meter again. The next day I received a deferred payment agreement in the mail to pay my $880 in installments of $125.76 a month for 7 months plus my regular water bill. I called Josh Howard the next day about this and he told me to ignore it for now untill they investagate further. The water bill is due on Dec 5 and I received a late notice and penalty of now $967.74 and subject for disconnect on Dec 14. I am told our water will not be turnned off and we will not be charged a late fee untill this matter is resolved. Now I get another call from Josh Howard saying they will take $320 off our water bill, but we have to pay the balance of $560.00! I told him thats really nice, but that doesn't solve the dilemma of why my bill is $880.00 and if it is the meter it may happen again! I am going to the water board meeting on Dec 19 at 5:30 pm to plead my case and he said he will have the paper work for me to sign that evenning if the board rules against me. Btw my normal water bill is $50 to $60 a month for 4 years. Which means my yearly anual bill would be anywhere between $600.00 to $720.00. So for my water bill to be $880.00 in 1 month is simply outrageous and simply ridiculous and Johnson County special utility district knows this are they wouldn't be trying to work out a deal with me!!!!!!!
