John Moore Services Reviews

John Moore Services came to my home 5/11/2022 to diagnose and evaluate problem with A/C system not working.

Their technician advised the fan motor was not working and would have to be replaced before they could diagnose the condenser at a cost of $1300 to $1500. He further said of course you run the risk of the compressor being found bad once the fan was working thus losing the $1300 to $1500 just spent on the fan.

He recommended replacing the whole condenser at a cost of $8600 but also recommended replacing the coil in the attic for an additional $3000 to $4000. I initially agreed but had second thoughts later in day and cancelled.

This morning I had another company come out and they performed their diagnostic tests and found a blown capacitor which they replaced in under an hour for $341. Air conditioning blowing cool and working well.

I would not recommend John Moore for such work to anybody. Always get a second opinion! I think John Moore was dishonest in their evaluation of my A/C SYSTEM. Not happy with John Moore needless to say. I guess all those TV commercials cost a lot of money.

This is a notice to all consumers who use john moore services for plumbing, electrical, hvac. Please be aware that jms has a way of taking advantage of their customers. As many have seen jms is running specials on drain cleaning. They have the $69.00 drain call but it has to be an accessible c/o, whats this mean? Any cleanout that can be reached and unscrewed, but does this mean under the kitchen sink? It should but the techs will charge for minor access. Next is the $29.00 drain special with a home inspection, this is to get their foot in your door, it gives them the oppertunity to fast talk you into a sale.

I was staying at my mother's home after working all night and was woke up early one morning by a male voice coming from her living room. My mom looked really worried and not sure what to do. There was a man in a John Moore uniform standoff there holding a clip board. After I asked what was going on he tried to scare me by telling me about her main breaker and how dangerous it was and how important it was to have it changed out immediately. I told him I would do it the next time I was off, he quickly told me I could not do it and it had to be done by a certified electrician. That was when I looked at his estimate, the first one was pretty high being over $2700 but there were two more for even more money the highest one was over $6400. Then I stared looking over his estimate trying to get the price down where she could afford to have them do the work I said you don't need to do the labeling for each room for $449, I could do that. He said it was required per the electrical code. This guy paid attention to everything my mom said, then he tried to win her confidence by stating he was a Christian, a veteran, even going so far to tell us he was special forces and was injured in some war. He didn't win me over our scare me, I had done some work growing up working for an electrical contractor. So I asked around and found and hired an electrician then got her box changed out within 2 days, my mom was pretty worried. However it did need to be changed, probably the only honest thing he said to us, for, get this $650. All I can say is I don't know how those people sleep at night trying to scare the elderly, then attempting to rip them off. I am only glad I was there that day to save my mom over $2000 on the low end and over $5800 on the high end. Call anyone else before you call those rip off experts.
