On January 2016, we hired Studio A Interior Designs via Thumbtack, and worked with the owner, Joaquin Amos. Joaquin Amos agreeed to furnish and decorate our home and we had given him deposits along the way totaling over 17,000. Delivery dates came and went, but Joaquin Amos assured us our items were safe in his warehouse. Months passed and I believed story after story of why things were being delayed. We asked to see our items and go to the warehouse. Joaquin Amos stated there was no furniture to see. We later found out the the "warehouse" was his grandpartents home. We asked for our money back so we could go and purchase furniture ourseleves. Joaquin Amos stated that he did not have our money, but promised to make monthly payments and have the over 17,000 paid back to us in a year. January 2017, Joaquin Amos signed a promissary note and agreed to pay us back in monthly payments.
To date we received two payments totaling 2,000. Joaquin Amos admitted to us that he took our money and did not provide the goods and services he promised (recorded statement). Since Joaquin Amos refused to pay us back and refused to contact us, we hired a company to collect the loan that Joaquin Amos defaulted on to no avail. We were informed that Joaquin Amos's grandfather was willing to pay his debt, but Joaquin Amos stated that he would pay us, he has not. We have been trying to get our money back since October 2016.
On January 2017, Joaquin Amos signed a promissary note, and made one timely payment. February 2017, Joaquin Amos defaulted on the promissary note. On March 2017, we hired a company to collect our money from Joaquin Amos. Today we have received no additional payments from Joaquin Amos and he has not contacted us or the company we hired. Joaquin Amos changed his cell number again. We have 2,000 of the over 17,000 that is owed to us. I just saw that Joaquin Amos has another company called Amos Design Associates on Houzz. I do not know any additional company names he uses. Thumbtack is also assisiting us and will not let Joaquin Amos advertise there until he pays us.
