We hired Jim Westness to be a cameraman on our documentary Alienstock. Jim lied to our company claiming he had been on the production team for the TV show TANKED. Jim showed work, that he never filmed. We found the actual cameraman who had taken what Jim claimed was his "footage”. After getting to know the cast from the tv show TANKED it was made clear Jim never worked on the show. He got a few photos acting like he was filming because he was there, with his production friend.
He made up that he was a professional cameraman based on that interaction and those photos. We know quite a few agencies who were "had” over this as well. None ever got their footage after hiring him. Jim got $1000 out of us to film an event. He claimed he was editing and cleaning up the footage. He came up with excuse after excuse of why he could not get us the footage. Even made up fake cancer, saying he was getting chemo and radiation 3 times a week in different states. Which never made sense.
His girlfriend Melissa Taylor confirmed the cancer was fake. Once we said no more excuses, we want the raw footage, Jim went into extortion mode. He said he wanted more money to give up our already paid for footage. He thought that would cause a fight and he could then blame me. I refused to take the bait. Instead I agreed to pay whatever he wanted. I asked multiple times for a number. He refused to give a number.
Then he said he didn’t like us for questioning him and we weren’t getting the footage or money back. He verbally said on the phone that if we told the cops that he would kill everyone in our home. He actually had taken our other autistic cameraman’s camera equipment and put it up for sale on Craigslist too. He blackmailed this man and told him he would also get him deported if he didn’t drop charges. The cameraman got scared and refused to follow up on Jim with the police.
I threatened to put him on this site and he threatened to make things up about us on here, if we did. We got the cops involved and got our footage back. Once we viewed the footage…it was why he didn’t want to hand it over. It was the worst work I had ever seen. Jim spoke through literally all the shots and could not keep the camera steady at any point.
He was even flirting with women on camera, instead of filming our celebrity guests. Beware. He is not a professional camera man. Look at his long history on Rip Off Report with random people from all over the country and his many many arrest records.
