I received a notification in the mail that stated I had definately won one of their valuable prizes. The area my "win" was in was a picture of a new car. None of the other prizes were associated with my "PERSONAL WINNING NUMBER." It wAS about dinner time (6:30PM) when my granddaughter and I arrived to claim our new car.. We were told the woman who was in charge of verifying the winning numbers was at dinner and would arrive back soon. So we were told to wait for her return.
While we were waiting for the woman to return, a salesman came to our table and asked if he could have a seat. He started asking questions about what kind of car we had in mind, etc. I tokld him that I had no inrtention of buying a car. I told him I didnt have the money to pay the sales taxes, and was looking forward to no car payment at all in about a year.. He stated that if Jeremy Franklin Mitsubishi would pay the sales taxes, would I be interested? I just laughed and told him I couldnt afford new car prices. He assured me that we could "work something out."
While he left to talk to someone about what could be dont, another salesman came to our table and told me our car was in the way of something, so I stood up to go move our car, and he sounded sympathetic to my disablity, (I am disabled with rheumatoid arthritis) and offered to move the car for me. The salesman came back right them and instructed me to let the other salesman move the car...THIS WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE I MADE ALL EVENING!! As the evening wore on and on I asked for my keys a total of 4 times and never did receive them back ever!! About an hour and a half into the promises and constant irritations I became very hypoglycemic. I kept telling the salesman I had to go eat something....but he didnt care. A woman salesman came and gave my granddaughter some money to eat something out of their machines, and I did eat some sugar to stop the "shakes"., but then an hour later after that the shakiness returned even worse.
My granddaughter started crying and I was totally confused and hypoglycemic, but I do remember the main promises:
1. Jeremy Franklin would pay the sales tax
2. My car insurance would go down since their Mitsubishis were so much safer than my Mercury Milan
3. Their cars got better gas mileage than mine (this was the only true statement they made.)
4. I had gotten the very best deal of anyone he had seen all month. (this was said by the office manager
who had prepared the paperwork.) If this is true I would be shocked!!!
5. After 6 months the salesman would rewrite my loan so that the payments would be exactly what my Mercury Milan payments had been
I hurriedly signed the paperwork to get out of there and take my granddaughter home when I realized that they had not given me any of the promises in writing....This was 12:30 at night mind you, but the salesman came up with the excuse that all the office staff had left. I was not allowed to take my personal things out of my old car, and a moment of clarity hit me. I told them I wanted my old car back, but the salesman was locking the door and rushing to his car..He said "its a done deal.".. Then he laughed to loosen the tension. He told me I could come pick up my paperwork the following Monday and that he would be there since there was the car giveaway that night.
I NEVER GOT THE PROMISED PAPERWORK!!
And what do you think I won?? A $1.00 gold coin. (The picture had shown a bag full of coins.)
I called the salesman the next day as he had given me his number earlier. I told him I was very unhappy with everything that had transpired. He told me my old car had already been sold to a dealer and that he had no way to get it back. I am sure that was probably a lie too.
After I had eaten, I discovered all the stuff they had pulled on me...I was charged the full retail suggested price of the vehicle plus the sales tax plus all the pricey add-ons like way overpriced oil changes, gap insurance...and other non essentials. The total add-ons were over 5,000 to $6,000 dollars. My payments were 430.00/month from 280.00. and I discovered they had put this on a 7 year contract!! I Made out a complaint to the BBB and only then did Jeremy Franklin Mitsubishi call me in to talk about it. I then received a check for the sales tax and difference of the first 6 months of car payments. They did not rewrite the contract, but just cancelled the overly priced service contract. (That means I still paid the sales tax since it was not taken out of the contract.) The salesman promised to rewrite the contract when I made the first 6 months payments on time....but guess what? I was told that it was way to early to rewrite the contract when after the 6 months with on-time payments had occured. My car insurance almost doubled when he had promised it would go down.
So now you know what I mean by lies after lies....I am stuck with a car I cannot afford...It is not anywhere as nice as my Mercury Milan was and the insurance has cost me an arm and a leg...They knew I was disabled and on a fixed income.....But they just didnt care.....Buyers beware!
Let me make another footnote. Chase Auto had to know I couldnt afford this vehicle, and they too have refused to help me!!!
